Emergency & Critical Care Veterinary Nurse Part TimeLocation: KildareAn established veterinary clinic in Co. Kildare is seeking a part-time Emergency & Critical Care Veterinary Nurse to join its dedicated team. This is a unique opportunity to become part of a brand-new Out of Hours service, ensuring 24/7 care for patients in need.The successful candidate will be a Registered Veterinary Nurse (VCI) with a minimum of 3 years post-qualification experience, ideally with a background in emergency or referral practice.Role Details:Part-time contract (3-day week)Night shifts every third week (MondayWednesday nights)Reporting to the Lead VetKey Responsibilities:Provide exceptional round-the-clock care for critically ill and injured animalsMonitor vital signs, assess pain levels, and administer appropriate treatmentsAssist vets during emergency procedures, including resuscitation, wound management, and surgeryTriage emergency cases and prioritize based on severityAdminister medications, fluids, and nutritional support under veterinary supervisionAssist with anesthesia and post-operative recovery careEssential Criteria:Current registration with the Veterinary Council of Ireland (VCI)At least 5 years small animal nursing experienceStrong clinical and decision-making skillsExcellent communication and teamwork abilitiesAbility to remain calm under pressure and work independentlyDesirable:Postgraduate qualifications in ECCPrevious experience in a busy emergency or referral hospitalKeen interest in night and weekend emergency workPersonal Qualities:Professional, empathetic, and resilientSelf-motivated and trustworthyHigh standards of clinical care and personal presentationThis role offers the chance to make a real difference for patients in critical need, while working within a supportive, progressive team environment.
