Responsibilities
Transport individuals to and from Western Care Association services, community locations, and respite locations as required.
Secure all passengers and equipment properly, using appropriate restraints for wheelchairs.
Operate hoists safely in line with training.
Assist with loading and unloading of passengers.
Check vehicle is roadworthy before use, including oil, water, windscreen wash, etc.
Keep vehicle interior and exterior clean and tidy.
Record daily run details in the logbook provided in each vehicle.
Maintain appropriate fuel levels before each journey and refuel as required in line with policy.
Carry out administrative functions to record departmental activities in line with policy and procedures.
Candidate Requirements
Clean full driver’s licence (Class D or DI essential).
Proven experience of carrying passengers as part of previous work history.
Up-to-date CPC training essential.
Other Duties Involved
Contribute to and actively participate in the local service planning process, supporting the creative development and responding to ongoing and changing needs.
Ensure a safe and respectful workplace, adhering to the organisation’s Dignity at Work Policy and all Health & Safety requirements.
Promote safety in all environments in line with the Association’s practices and guidelines.
Use positive and proactive approaches to support individuals who may present challenging behaviours, consistent with organisational policies and best practice.
Requirements
All applicants will be subject to Irish Garda Vetting and reference checks.
Applicants from outside the EU must provide relevant work authorisation to take up employment in the Republic of Ireland.
Applicants who have lived outside the Republic of Ireland or Northern Ireland for more than six months since the age of 16 will be required to provide Overseas Police Clearance.
Salary Scale
Bus Driver Pay Scale (Scale Range €35,068 – €42,439 per annum) – based on full-time working hours i.e. 39 per week.
