Job Title: Oncology Clinical Liaison Specialist
The role of an Oncology Clinical Liaison Specialist is to provide expert clinical guidance and support within the Medical Directorate at a prominent Dublin hospital. The successful candidate will possess in-depth knowledge and expertise in oncology, working collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
The position encompasses five core areas of focus: clinical practice, audit and research, advocacy, advice and consultation, education and training. The specialist acts as a resource and liaison with other hospital-based and community services to ensure integrated, coordinated care for patients and their families.
* Clinical Focus:
o The specialist will have a strong patient-centric approach, assessing, planning, delivering, and evaluating care to patients, families, and carers.
o Direct care comprises direct patient care, while indirect care relates to activities influencing and supporting direct care.
* Patient/Client Advocate:
o The specialist will provide an efficient, effective, and high-quality service, respecting the needs of each patient.
o The specialist will act as a resource/contact person for oncology patients attending other departments or outside the hospital for treatment.
* Education and Training:
o The specialist will play an active role in teaching nursing staff and other disciplines.
o The specialist will use relevant educational opportunities to maintain the highest standards of care offered to patients.
* Audit and Research:
o The specialist will ensure their practice is compliant with best practice, reflected in research and development.
o The specialist will participate in regular audits of their own clinical practice.
* Consultancy:
o The specialist will provide leadership in clinical practice and act as a resource and role model for oncology practice.
o The specialist will generate and contribute to the development of clinical standards and guidelines.
The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 1 year's post-registration experience in specialist oncology care and a Level 9 qualification (or higher) in the specialist area. They must also demonstrate continuing professional development (CPD) relevant to the specialist area.
