Cork County Council invites applications from suitably qualified persons, who wish to be considered for inclusion on a panel from which permanent and temporary vacancies for IS Analyst/Developer (Service Management & Development) may be filled.
The Digital & ICT Directorate manages Cork County Council’s IT environment including the networks, information systems and applications required to support the operation of the council’s services across housing, planning, roads, tourism, libraries, economic development and more. The directorate is split into Enterprise Business Services, handling business applications, data, service design and the M365 platform, and Enterprise Technology Services, responsible for the council’s infrastructure, security and service management services. The directorate is located in County Hall, Cork.
Successful candidates will be encouraged and supported to undertake further training and certification to build expertise in the areas they are appointed to. The role may require flexibility in hours of attendance, and the dynamic environment may call for the incumbent to fulfil additional roles in the broader IT field as business requirements arise.
The IS Analyst/Developer will work with users to formulate system or technology requirements, develop plans and documentation, review and evaluate existing systems, and design, modify and manage solutions and processes to meet the organisation’s business needs. The primary objective is implementation and support of technology solutions that enable the council’s work. This role is suited for candidates interested in developing a career in IT architecture, technical infrastructure, service delivery, telecommunications, networking support, technical support, ICT service management, operations, server support, ICT security, virtualisation, cloud computing and M365 Administration and deployment.
Role Description & Responsibilities
* Monitoring and maintenance of network components including configuration and security management
* Maintenance, problem solving and support of existing systems and infrastructure
* Managing contracts and service delivery by third‑party technology providers
* Configuring components to ensure interoperability
* Managing support service provision
* Identifying and evaluating network/infrastructure inefficiencies and recommending optimal technology solutions
* Office 365 implementation and administration
* Experience with public procurement procedures and tendering
* Preparation and maintenance of appropriate project and technical documentation
* Applying appropriate security controls
* Managing and evaluating test processes
* Supporting and contributing to ICT plans, policies and procedures
* Release and change management
* Testing and evaluating new technology
* Attending regular planning and review meetings
* Undertaking training as appropriate to ensure knowledge and expertise is kept up to date
* Undertaking other duties assigned by the Head of IT
Note: as the ICT Department continues to expand and evolve, it is likely that flexibility regarding the allocation of specific duties will be necessary.
