TOBIN is seeking a motivated and detail-orientedGraduate Civil Engineerto join ourFlood & Dam Division.Based in either ourDublin or Galway office, this is an exciting opportunity to work on nationally significant flood risk and water infrastructure projects, while developing your technical and project management skills under the guidance of experienced professionals.The position of Graduate (Civil) Engineer within TOBIN requires a minimumLevel 8 Honours Degree qualification in Civil Engineering(or equivalent qualification appropriate to the tasks assigned) and in general the title may apply to staff that have between1 and 4-years' experiencedepending on the knowledge and skills gained over the course of their career to date.Duties and Responsibilities:As a member of a team within a TOBIN department and through mentoring with senior members of staff within TOBIN, the Graduate (Civil) Engineer-Flood and Dam Division will be required to undertake the following duties:Where directed by the Project Manager, liaise with Clients to deliver the required designs.Undertake Flood Risk Assessments (Stages 1 to 3) for various developments, including hydrological analysis and river modelling.Contribute to complex flooding and hydrology projects from initial concept through to handover, including hydraulic modelling, flood risk assessments, and drainage design.Prepare detailed designs and drawings for Flood Relief Schemes.Preparing Designers' Assessments of Risk for all designsProcurement of Site Investigation, Building and Civil Engineering Contracts and, where appropriate, the preparation of pricing schedules and Bills of Quantities.Assisting our Project Managers in the preparation of tender documents and tender assessments.Undertake dam/reservoir safety inspectionsUndertake construction supervision of major water infrastructureAdministration of the construction contracts to ensure that design requirements, project schedules and project budget are achieved.Liaising with local authorities in scoping the feasibility of new projectsTake instruction from their Line Manager (and where appropriate, the relevant Project Manager and senior members of the project teams).The Skills Required of a Graduate (Civil) Engineer:Excellent written and verbal (English) communication and interpersonal communication skills.Competent understanding of hydrology/river modelling design principlesFully versed in the requirements of site development worksProficient in the use of software packages such as HEC-RAS 1D/2D, Flood Modeller, AutoCAD 2D Innovyze, MicroDrainage.Working knowledge of relevant software packages such as Microsoft Project and the capability to develop skills in the use of other software packages such as Microsoft Access and GIS software packages such as ArcGIS, QGIS and MapInfo.Working knowledge of the various public procurement procedures and thresholdsWorking knowledge of construction contracts such as the PWMF Forms of Contract and RIAI Forms of Contract.The desirable Skills of a Graduate (Civil) Engineer:Proficient in hydrological analysis using R and/or Python, including but not limited to statistical extreme value analysis and large dataset processing.Experienced in applying remote sensing and satellite datasets to hydrological and geoscience problems, with a focus on delivering robust Earth observation solutions.Experienced in designing retaining walls, earth-fill embankments, and other hydraulic structures (such as spillways and weirs) using a suite of design software in accordance with relevant Eurocodes.Knowledgeable in Nature-Based Solutions for developing environmentally sustainable flood resilience strategies.Demonstrated ability to work independently and take initiative in complex technical tasks.If you feel that this role is something you may be interested in and would like an opportunity to discuss the matter further please apply via the link above
