Meet the team

RTÉ will shortly have a vacancy for the Head of Editorial Standards and Compliance.

Reporting to the Director-General, this role has responsibility for the maintenance of editorial standards and the allied managementofreputational andeditorialrisk.

As Head of Editorial Standards & Compliance you will act as a key support toeditorialstaff across all platforms in the deliveryofcontent, ensuring RTÉ adheres to the principlesoffairness, impartiality and objectivity, and the protectionofaudiences from undueoffence and from harm, in keeping with RTÉ Guidelines, broadcasting legislation and Coimisiún na Meán codes.

About the role:
* Managementofthe RTÉ Complaints Process andofresponses to complaints referred to Coimisiún na Meán.
* Chairing and executive leadershipoftheEditorialStandards Board, including ongoing reviewofRTÉeditorialguidelines, pre-transmission viewings and ongoing content reviews.
* Advisory resource toeditorialexecutives on reputational andeditorialrisk and compliance.
* Managementand leadership ofthe RTÉ Election/Referendum Steering Group and related compliance matters.
* Engagement with key stakeholders such as Coimisiún na Meán, Electoral Commission, Oireachtas Committees, government departments and political representatives.
* Responding to representations, as required, on behalfofRTÉ/Director General and other duties assigned by the Director General.
* Staff training and development on the practical applicationofeditorialguidelines and standards, including e-learning modules.

About you:
* Significant relevant experience in broadcasting at a senior editorial/ production level.
* A working knowledgeofRTÉeditorialguidelines, broadcasting legislation andregulatory codes.
* Excellent and precise written and oral communication skills.
* Strong organisational and interpersonal skills and attention to detail.
* Ability to work collegially with programme-makers, whileoffering an independent perspective as required.
* Ability to proactively manage RTÉ’s engagement with relevant stakeholders.
* A working knowledgeofthe operationofRTÉ RegisterofInterests, RegisterofExternal Activities and RegisterofGifts.

This appointment will be made on a personal manager grade and is being offered on an ongoing contract basis. The expected salary on appointment is between €110,000 to €120,000 (subject to relevant skills, knowledge and experience).
