Senior Audit Manager – Technology
An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Enterprise Capability Team, as a Senior Audit Manager aligned to Technology. You will work across all Divisions covering a range of technology‑related risks. This is an excellent role for a high‑calibre candidate with internal audit experience and a passion for making a difference.
In This Role, You Will
* Lead the delivery of technology‑related audit activity from scoping through to reporting
* Provide support and expertise across GIA, guiding and developing others
* Evaluate internal controls and processes through the planning, execution and reporting of audit engagements
* Report on the status of audit engagements to the Heads of Audit
* Lead partner engagement with auditees throughout the engagement, including regular updates and agreement of audit issues and final report
* Support the development of the annual assurance plan and opinion
* Support and coach new and junior team members in audit methodology and use of Audit Board
* Ensure audits are delivered in line with GIA methodology
What will make you stand out
* Extensive subject‑matter experience in technology audit
* Relevant qualifications (e.g., CISA, CISM, CISSP, CRISC, ISO 27000)
* Experience in internal audit within the financial services environment, with strong interpersonal relationships and influence skills
* Advanced reporting writing and critical‑thinking skills, with the ability to convey complex information simply for executive and board audiences
* Highly adept at navigating governance processes and working cross‑functionally to achieve outcomes
* Commercially savvy with a strong understanding of Bank of Ireland
* Strong people‑manager skills and experience building high‑performing teams
* Extensive expertise in technology audit
* Proven experience in internal audit or risk in an environment with significant regulatory or compliance requirements
* Experience in business and industry knowledge in the key subject area
* Methodology and analytical skills – solid understanding of internal control concepts, evaluating and resolving adequacy of controls
* Excellent written and oral communication skills, and attention to detail
* Track record of sound judgement, drive, agility and resilience
* Strategic mentality with the ability to understand and communicate technical issues in a business context
Knowledge and experience in the following areas would also be advantageous
* Data Management (e.g., governance, data warehousing, BCBS 239, lineage)
* Cybersecurity and data protection
* IT
* Cloud
* Transaction processing and financial services payments requirements
* Programme risk/change
* Privacy
* TPRM
Essential Qualifications
* Certified with a relevant internal audit qualification (Certified Internal Auditor – CIA), or an accountancy qualification (ACA/ACCA) or currently applying for one of these qualifications
More About The Team
GIA forms the third line of defence for the Bank of Ireland Group. Its purpose is ‘to Help Make Bank of Ireland Better’, providing independent assurance to key partners on the effectiveness of the Group’s risk management and internal control frameworks. GIA carries out risk‑based assignments across Group businesses and functions, attending key governance fora and committees. Stakeholders include the Board, Group Audit Committee, subsidiary audit and risk committees, senior management, regulators and external auditors. Findings are communicated to senior management, with remediation plans monitored for progress. The role provides a group‑wide remit and deep insight into all Group activities.
This is a hybrid role based in Baggot Plaza, Dublin 4. Colleagues are typically asked to spend a minimum of eight days per month working in‑person to support teamwork and collaboration. Specific arrangements will be confirmed by your recruiter.
