Speech & Language Therapist (Staff Grade) Role Overview:

We are seeking a passionate and skilled Speech & Language Therapist to join our multidisciplinary team in an acute hospital setting. The role involves working with patients presenting with a wide range of communication and swallowing disorders, contributing to high-quality, person-centred care.

Key Responsibilities:

* Provide timely assessment, diagnosis, and intervention for adults with communication and/or swallowing difficulties.
">
* Manage a caseload of inpatients, including individuals with complex medical and neurological conditions.
">
* Collaborate with medical, nursing, and allied health colleagues to support integrated care planning and effective discharge processes.
">
* Contribute to clinical governance, service improvement initiatives, and ongoing quality assurance processes.
">
* Participate in clinical supervision and engage in relevant CPD activities.
">
* Maintain accurate, comprehensive, and timely clinical documentation in accordance with legal and professional standards.
">

Additional Responsibilities for Senior Grade:

* Provide clinical leadership and supervision to junior colleagues and students.
">
* Support the coordination and delivery of service development projects and audits.
">
* Take an active role in strategic planning and implementation of evidence-based practice across the service.
">
* Contribute to the development and review of departmental protocols and procedures.
">
">
Essential Requirements:
">
">
* A recognised qualification in Speech & Language Therapy.
">
* CORU registration (or eligibility).
">
* Clinical experience working with adults in the areas of communication and dysphagia.
">
* Strong communication, documentation, and organisational skills.
">
* Ability to work both independently and collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team.

Additional Requirements for Senior Grade:

* Minimum of 3 years post-qualification experience, including at least 18 months in adult dysphagia/acute care.
">
* Demonstrated leadership in clinical or service development initiatives.
">
">
Desirable Qualifications:
">
">
* Postgraduate training in dysphagia management.
">
* Experience working in an acute hospital or similar high-paced environment.
">
* Familiarity with SLT outcome measures and use of electronic health records.
">
* Membership of the Irish Association of Speech & Language Therapists.
