Alliance Medical currently has a really exciting opportunity available for a PET-CT Clinical Specialist to join our brand new, state-of-the-art facility in Ballysimon, Limerick.
The successful PET-CT Clinical Specialist will play a lead role in delivering, developing, and maintaining our PET-CT services to the highest clinical, operational and safety standards.
This role offers a full-time, permanent contract.
Key Responsibilities
* In conjunction with the PET/CT Clinical and Administrative staff, provide a safe & efficient PET/CT service, while adhering to all legislative regulations and company policies.
* Accountable for the quality of the service provided, including customer service & technical aspects.
* Developing and implementing operational policies, protocols & guidelines.
* Contribute to the preparation of plans of service - monitor and report on their implementation. Implement and maintain accurate information systems for clinical data in accordance with Company and hospital standards.
* Ensure the Unit Manager and Regional Manager is provided with accurate records of equipment service, maintenance, malfunction, downtime and performance.
* Maintain up to date knowledge of clinical, technical and radiographic developments in relation to the PET/CT department and promote awareness of new developments.
* Support the Unit Manager in the implementation of initiatives aimed at on-going service development and improvement.
* Provide professional support & advice to patients, radiographers, radiologists, medical staff, nurses & other allied health professionals.
* Promote & maintain a safe environment for staff and patients. Assist in the development and implementation of risk management and health and safety strategies in association with the Quality Department.
* Develop and maintain a training function as may be required in relation to qualified staff and/or trainees. Supervise and assess all training as required.
* Liaise with the Unit Manager on the rotation of staff through the PET/CT department to ensure an adequate number of trained staff are available and can cover the PET/CT rota.
* Participate fully with all internal and external audits and Accreditation.
* Liaise with the Unit Manager/HR Manager on human resource issues as appropriate.
* Quality Assurance: Investigate & take appropriate action in accordance with Company policy in relation to complaints, accidents and incidents.
* Ensure that all Company policies & relevant up-to-date information is understood by staff and complied with.
* Ensure all Company policies on infection control, IV policy and health and safety etc. are understood by staff and complied with.
* Maintain a quality assurance programme in the PET/CT department.
* Assist the Radiation Protection Officer to ensure that all principles and policies of radiation protection, are adhered to.
* Be familiar with all legislation and directives regarding the safety standards for the protection of health workers and the general public against the dangers arising from Ionising Radiation.
* Follow all Radiation Protection practices as determined by the Radiation Protection Committee, Radiation Protection Advisor and Radiation Protection Officer
Key Requirements
* BSc (Hons) Diagnostic Radiography or equivalent
* CORU Registration
* IV Cannulation
* Post-Graduate Qualification in PET-CT (desirable) but not mandatory.
