Project Development Officer - Mid & East Antrim Borough Council - Ballymena
Join Mid & East Antrim Borough Council in Ballymena as a Project Development Officer and play a key part in developing and implementing vital projects throughout the borough.
About the role:
£23.37 per hour
Location: Ballymena
Monday to Friday
37 hours a week
Temporary for 12 months
Closing date: Thursday 28th May 2026
What you'll be doing in this role:
Implement the Council’s capital works projects programme, to monitor progress and liaise with mangers and the project team.
Act as lead project manager for nominated schemes
Develop action plans including costs and clear work programmes for a wide range of capital projects
Responsible for ensuring contractors, consultants and other Council departments involved in contracts co-operate efficiently and effectively
Efficiently and effectively manage capital works projects expenditure in line with Councils tendering process
Assist with drawing up specifications, obtaining competitive tenders and evaluating proposals to ensure both value for money and quality are achieved
Attend meetings and undertake work related to the development and operation of the department as required
Maintain good working relationships with other officers and to regularly liaise with other managers in the department and in the Council to ensure effective co-ordination of activities
What you'll need for this role:
Applicants must have a degree or equivalent qualification in a Building related subject
Applicants must be in possession of a NEBOSH Certificate in Occupational Health and Safety or equivalent
Be able to demonstrate, by providing personal and specific examples, that they have 3 years’ (5 years if they do not possess the academic qualification in criteria 1) of managing capital projects from design to client handover clearly demonstrating experience and competence in the following areas:
Successful delivery of commercial/public capital and minor works projects
Successful management of budgets
Experience in dealing with a range of stakeholders
Membership of a recognised professional body relevant to the post.
A full current UK driving licence and access to a vehicle, or access to a form of transport that enables you to carry out the duties of the post (this applies only to applicants who have a disability under the Disability Discrimination Act)
