Roughan O'Donovan (ROD) is looking to recruit a principal structural design engineer with 10 to 15 years' experience for a permanent position within our expanding buildings team.

You will join a buildings team recognised for delivering high quality, cost-effective and sustainable building projects across a range of sectors, including residential, healthcare, education and commercial. We work with architects, developers, local authorities and property owners to develop robust, long-lasting building designs. Our buildings achieve the top certifications within sustainable design, including LEED and BREEAM.

Essential
* Honours degree in structural/civil engineering (Level 8 in the National Framework of Qualifications or equivalent)
* 10-15 years’ relevant experience
* Ability to manage several engineers and technicians to deliver large-scale building projects
* Good commercial awareness
* Ability to work in a team and/or independently
* Strong interpersonal skills
* Good written and oral communication skills
* Good organisational skills
* Experience of mentoring junior engineering staff in all aspects of design
* Good understanding of ethical issues in engineering design, including safety
* Chartered status with a recognised professional body
* Full driving licence
* Fluent/highly proficient in spoken and written English
Desirable
* Structural design experience in accordance with the Eurocodes for concrete, steel, masonry, timber and foundations
* Knowledge or experience of BIM, Revit or Robot
* Knowledge of AutoCAD
* Knowledge of building regulations and technical guidance documents
