We are seeking an experienced Senior Design Manager to lead and coordinate the design delivery of multiple water and wastewater infrastructure projects. The role will involve managing multidisciplinary design teams, ensuring technical excellence, regulatory compliance, and successful delivery from concept through construction support.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead the design management of water and wastewater projects across all project stages, from feasibility and concept design through detailed design and construction support
* Manage and coordinate multidisciplinary design teams, including civil, mechanical, electrical, process, and environmental disciplines
* Act as the primary design interface with the client, project stakeholders, contractors, and regulatory bodies
* Ensure designs comply with the client's standards, Irish and EU regulations, health & safety requirements, and best industry practice
* Oversee design programmes, budgets, and resources to ensure timely and cost-effective delivery
* Review and approve design deliverables, reports, drawings, and technical specifications
* Manage design risk, including HAZID/HAZOP, constructability reviews, and value engineering exercises
* Support procurement activities, including preparation of technical documentation and tender reviews
* Provide technical input during construction, including responding to RFIs, design changes, and site queries
* Mentor and support junior engineers and designers, promoting a high-performing design culture
Requirements
* Degree in Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related discipline
* Experience in the water and wastewater sector, with significant experience in a design management or senior design role
* Proven experience managing multidisciplinary design teams on complex infrastructure projects
* Experience across water and wastewater treatment works, pumping stations, networks, and associated infrastructure
* Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills
* Strong understanding of health, safety, and environmental compliance in design
