Overview
As a Senior Mechanical Engineer, your role will include assessing and understanding project requirements, undertaking mechanical design across a number of disciplines and agreeing timescales and specifications with design teams, clients and managers. Leading and directing junior staff, you will be actively involved in the preparation of documents, reports and health and safety risk assessments as well as interpreting commercial and/or contractual aspects of correspondence with or between fellow professionals on multidisciplinary projects.
Key Responsibilities
* Managing the delivery of assigned mechanical and building services elements of multi-disciplinary projects across sectors including Built Environment, Water, Transport and Advisory
* Working and liaising with associated engineering disciplines as part of project delivery
* Managing internal and external stakeholders
* Carrying out design and calculation work using relevant industry software (IES, Revit, etc.)
* Providing technical expertise and coaching junior team members
* Developing, maintaining and monitoring programmes for scheduling and reporting on deliverables
* Maximising profitability of projects, monitoring against budget, anticipating problems and communicating with clients
Areas of expertise
* Mechanical building services design with experience in areas such as Healthcare, Education, Industrial/pharma, Food Processing, Transportation, Water/Wastewater
* Steam, Condensate and associated equipment
* Low Pressure / Low Temperature Hot Water
* Chilled Water and associated equipment
* Domestic hot and cold water systems for commercial and industrial projects
* Public health systems, Vacuum systems, Fuel gas and fuel oil systems
* Process/plant water, Reverse Osmosis (RO) Water, Medical gases
* Natural Ventilation systems, HVAC systems, Refrigeration
* Specialist extract systems, BMS/SCADA, Instrumentation, Control and Automation
* Services co-ordination and integration of plant and equipment in buildings and for underground services
* BIM, AutoCAD and Revit
* Site experience is an advantage
Candidate specification
Essential
* B.Eng / M.Eng
* Chartered Engineer
* Experience leading mechanical services and some multidisciplinary projects
* Experience mentoring and leading graduate engineers
* Enthusiastic and ambitious
* Excellent communication skills, including report writing and presentations
* Ability to lead electrical elements of large projects or a portfolio of smaller projects
* Experience managing client relationships and expectations; ability to attend client meetings via Teams
