Job Description
The Category Manager leads the implementation of category procurement strategy, developed in partnership with Category Directors and VP-level business stakeholders. This role oversees the end-to-end procurement process, managing a team of Specialists to ensure excellence and compliance. The Category Manager also focuses on developing team capabilities and workforce planning.
* Partner with Director/VP-level stakeholders to develop category-specific procurement strategies aligned with business goals.
* Relay market insights and intelligence to inform strategic decisions, staying updated on industry trends and technologies.
* Manage relationships with key suppliers to achieve cost savings, process optimization, and procurement value.
* Monitor supplier performance on sustainability and ESG measures, promoting responsible sourcing.
* Drive Supplier Relationship Management (SRM) strategies, fostering innovation and long-term collaborations.
* Manage procurement risks and ensure policy compliance.
* Lead project management efforts from initiation to completion, coordinating cross-functional teams.
* Identify and implement process improvements using data analytics for continuous gains.
* Support sourcing, negotiation, and contract execution, conducting necessary analyses.
* Manage team performance, identify skill gaps, and develop action plans for workforce development.
Qualifications
* Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, or related field; Master’s preferred.
* At least 7 years of experience in procurement, supply chain, or related fields.
* Experience managing procurement teams and supplier relationships.
* Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Power Platform.
* Knowledge of the pharmaceutical industry is a plus.
* Expertise in category management, market analysis, and strategic procurement decisions.
* Strong negotiation skills and project management experience.
* Proven ability in building collaborative supplier relationships.
* Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with emotional intelligence.
