Position Overview:
As a Purchasing Assistant, you will report directly to the Head of Procurement. You will be instrumental in ensuring that the supply of medical equipment and consumables meets the needs of our client's organisation and their valued customers.
Key Responsibilities:
Place purchase orders for stock and spares, following up on order acknowledgments and delivery schedules with suppliers.
Optimise stock levels to meet customer demand while minimising excess inventory.
Regularly review stock classifications to adapt to changing customer requirements.
Manage product phase-outs and introduce new items into the supply chain process, including SAP and the planning system.
Set up new items and suppliers in SAP, ensuring meticulous maintenance and enrichment.
Organise the transportation of goods and liaise with warehouse personnel to ensure accuracy in received goods.
Address supplier issues promptly and work to minimise sales back orders.
Keep relevant personnel informed about any product-related issues.
Support the business with customer/supplier returns.
Collaborate with other departments on special promotions, orders, and customer inquiries.
Process invoices and handle related queries efficiently.
What We're Looking For:
Proven experience in a similar purchasing role is essential.
Knowledge of ERP/MRP planning systems, particularly SAP, is a must.
Familiarity with inventory management and invoice processing software.
Strong computer skills, especially in Excel/Word and reporting tools.
A team player with exceptional attention to detail and the ability to work independently.
Excellent organisational skills with a decisive approach to problem-solving.
