Optify is seeking a highly skilled Data & Fibre Cabling Technician to join our growing telecom infrastructure team.
This role is ideal for a technician with hands-on experience in structured cabling, fibre optic installation, and data centre environments.
The successful candidate will play a key role in deploying high-performance cabling networks, supporting mission-critical connectivity projects, and maintaining full compliance with industry standards (TIA/EIA, ISO).
You will work closely with network engineers, site managers, and project teams to ensure reliable installation, testing, and documentation of copper and fibre cabling systems.
Key Responsibilities:
-Structured Cabling Installation: Install, route, and terminate Cat5e, Cat6, and Cat6A data cabling in accordance with TIA/EIA standards.
Deploy cabling infrastructure across data centres, corporate buildings, and telecom sites.
-Fibre Optic Splicing & Testing: Perform fusion splicing, polishing, and OTDR-based fibre testing.Install and maintain fibre trays, enclosures, patch panels, and cross-connects.
-Technical Documentation & Labelling: Maintain accurate test results, layouts, and cable schedules using Fluke and EXFO systems.
Label, tag, and record cabling assets to ensure full traceability and compliance.
-Collaboration & Site Coordination: Work with network engineers, electricians, and IT teams during deployment phases.
Contribute to project meetings and assist with site readiness and commissioning tasks.
-Standards, Safety & Compliance: Ensure all work complies with TIA/EIA, ISO, ANSI, and customer installation standards.
Follow site rules including Safe Pass, manual handling, access control, and method statements.
Proactively identify risks and report issues that may affect cabling integrity or service uptime.
Qualifications:
-Minimum 1 year of experience in data & fibre cabling installation (data centre experience preferred)
-Skilled in Cat6/Cat6A installation, dressing, containment, and termination
-Experience with fibre splicing, OTDR testing, and using Fluke cable testers
-Strong understanding of telecom cabling standards & structured wiring principles
-Detail-oriented with excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
-Ability to read network diagrams, rack layouts, cable route maps, and method statements
-Safe Pass, WAH & Manual Handling certification (or ability to obtain)
