The Role
An opportunity has arisen for an experienced and motivated Senior Charge Nurse/ODP Band 7 to join our dynamic Recovery service in the North Sector. The unit brings together main, plastics, gynaecology recovery and same‑day admissions with 26 theatres at Glasgow Royal Infirmary and six theatres at Stobhill ACH, covering more than 12 surgical specialities. We are looking for a strong, compassionate leader who is passionate about delivering high‑quality, patient‑centred peri‑operative care and inspiring a culture of clinical excellence and continuous improvement. The incumbent will work autonomously as part of a team to make clinical decisions and manage competing priorities effectively and will be committed to developing a recovery team that fosters a positive and inclusive environment.
Key responsibilities include:
Providing visible, effective leadership within the recovery suite, ensuring the smooth day‑to‑day running of services.
Supporting and overseeing staff in delivering safe, evidence‑based care in line with board policies and standards.
Managing and coordinating recovery activity, staff rotas and resources to meet clinical demand efficiently.
Acting as a clinical expert and role model, promoting professional development, education and mentorship.
Driving quality improvement initiatives and supporting the implementation of new policies.
Contributing to governance processes including audit, risk management, incident review and health and safety.
Duration, Location and Working Pattern
Location: Stobhill Hospital
Contract: Permanent
Hours: Full‑time (36 hours per week)
Shift pattern: Monday to Friday (salary pro‑rata for part‑time hours if applicable)
Qualifications and Experience
First‑level registered nurse status with a minimum of five years post‑registration experience.
At least two years of relevant post‑registration qualification or experience in a specialty area.
Demonstrated ability to fulfil the criteria outlined in the job description.
IT skills, good communication skills and enthusiasm for working in a fast‑paced recovery environment.
