Our client, a prominent player in the renewable energy sector, is seeking a Head of Technology to join their Senior Leadership Team. Reporting to the CFO, this is a strategic role responsible for shaping and executing the company’s technology vision across both Information Technology (IT) and Operational Technology (OT).This leader will play a critical role in driving business transformation, enhancing operational efficiency, and enabling long-term growth through the effective use of technology. The role also includes ensuring strong cyber resilience, data governance, and regulatory compliance while fostering innovation and delivering secure, reliable, and scalable systems tailored to the evolving needs of the Organisation.KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:Technology Strategy & ExecutionDefine and implement the enterprise-wide technology strategy, aligning IT and OT initiatives with overall business objectives.Develop and lead a long-term roadmap for digital transformation, driving innovation and the adoption of emerging technologies, including AI.Risk Management & ComplianceEnsure strategic decisions incorporate risk management, compliance, and adherence to industry best practices.Implement and maintain compliance frameworks aligned with GDPR, NIS2, and other relevant regulations.Infrastructure & Operational OversightOversee infrastructure, applications, network services, and overall service delivery.Ensure business continuity planning and high system availability.Provide strong oversight of technology security and risk management, including implementation of ISO 27001 and IEC 62443 standards.Cybersecurity LeadershipDevelop and implement robust cybersecurity frameworks to safeguard digital and physical assets.Ensure structured protocols for enterprise risk management, with critical experience in ISO 27001 and OT security standards (IEC 62443).Stakeholder EngagementCollaborate with internal stakeholders to ensure technology solutions meet business needs and regulatory obligations.Engage with executive leadership, operational teams, external partners, regulatory authorities, and vendors.Procurement & Cost EfficiencyLead technology procurement in line with the Utilities Directive (as applicable), ensuring cost-effective and compliant supplier relationships.Manage reduce the Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) for IT services and assets.Team Leadership & Resource PlanningUse the performance management process to support effective resource planning across the technology team and wider organisation.KEY REQUIREMENTSHonours degree in Information Technology or a related field.Minimum of 10 years’ experience in IT, with significant senior leadership experience in both IT and OT within medium to large organisations.Exceptional leadership, strategic and commercial skillsExperience in or closely aligned with the renewable energy sector is highly desirable.Proven ability to deliver technology strategies that align with business objectives and drive organisational transformation.Demonstrated expertise in cybersecurity frameworks, specifically ISO 27001 and IEC 62443.Deep understanding of regulatory requirements such as GDPR, NIS2, and the Utilities Directive.For an immediate introduction and confidential discussion on this opportunity please reach out to me today at hreeves@hirewise.ie or +353 873606867
