The Mechanical Engineer will play a key role in the delivery of engineering projects for ESB.
This role involves close collaboration with design teams, ESB partners, and Contractors to ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest standards.
Key Responsibilities Assist in conceptual design of high voltage cable transmission and distribution circuits and interfaces with substations and overhead line equipment Support detailed design including cable and accessory type / ratings, trenching and ducting systems, bonding systems and all other aspects of HV cable design Participate in due diligence reviews of internal and external designs to ensure compliance with relevant specifications Contribute to design risk assessments for all engineering deliverables Provide technical input to project teams and collaborate with colleagues to ensure quality and compliance with standards Co-ordinate with internal and external stakeholders to progress projects through all lifecycle stages and governance gates – from concept stage through to construction Experience and Qualifications Level 8 Mechanical Engineering Degree or equivalent Minimum 3 years of relevant experience Proven ability to contribute to the management of significant projects or key aspects of projects Good safety awareness and communication skills Valid driver's license for ROI, access to a car, and flexibility to travel nationwide Working towards Chartership in a recognized professional institution Experience in utility or linear infrastructure projects, manufacturing or contracting Good commercial and project management skills Experience in performing the role of designer on projects Location This position will be based in ESB E&MP's Offices in Dublin o r Eastgate Cork.
