Overview: Our Sales Representatives are responsible for driving sales growth, developing new business opportunities, and maintaining strong relationships with existing trade customers. Reporting directly to the Group Sales Manager, this role involves proactive customer engagement, achieving sales targets, and ensuring customers receive the highest level of service and product knowledge.
Key Responsibilities:
Customer Relationship Management:
* Build and maintain strong relationships with existing trade customers (builders, contractors, developers, etc.).
* Act as the main point of contact for queries, orders, and account issues.
* Conduct regular face-to-face visits to strengthen loyalty.
New Business Development:
* Identify and approach potential customers in the local and regional area.
* Network at trade shows, supplier days, and industry events.
* Follow up on leads from the branch, suppliers, or marketing campaigns.
Sales & Revenue Growth:
* Achieve or exceed agreed sales targets, GP margins, and account growth goals.
* Promote the full range of products and services offered by the merchant.
* Upsell and cross-sell complementary products (e.g., sell timber alongside fixings).
Product Knowledge & Advice:
* Maintain strong knowledge of building materials, their uses, and alternatives.
* Provide technical advice or source information from suppliers for customers.
* Stay updated on market trends, competitor pricing, and new products.
Communication with Internal Teams:
* Work closely with internal sales, yard, and delivery teams to ensure smooth order fulfilment.
* Pass on customer feedback to management to improve service and product offering.
* Coordinate pricing and stock availability with the branch manager.
Reporting & Administration:
* Prepare weekly/monthly sales reports and account activity summaries.
* Keep CRM systems updated with customer contact and visit details.
* Track and follow up on quotations.
Credit & Payment Awareness:
* Monitor customer accounts to ensure payment terms are met.

* Full, clean driving licence.
Preferred:
* Knowledge of building materials and their applications.
* Experience using CRM systems and reporting tools.
* Familiarity with local and regional trade customer base.
