Job Title: Database Administrator
About the Role:
In a rapidly evolving healthcare landscape, innovation and problem-solving are crucial. As a Database Administrator at Optum, you will configure, maintain, and optimize operational and reporting databases to align with our environment strategy.

We offer flexible work arrangements, including a hybrid model that allows individuals to split their monthly work hours between our Letterkenny office and telecommuting from a home-based office.
Key Responsibilities:
* Configure and maintain databases according to our environment strategy.
* Engage in capacity planning exercises to ensure adequate system resources.
* Monitor system performance, troubleshoot issues, and apply RDMS updates to production and non-production environments.
* Manage logins for different types of access, perform database backups, and verify restores.
* Participate in Change Control processes and ensure Epic EMR database changes are communicated to relevant teams.
* Collaborate with other databases, environment/infrastructure, and internal/external enterprise security teams.
* Provide on-call support for production performance/availability or critical issues.
Requirements:
* Degree Qualified in a relevant field (Data Science or STEM subject) or equivalent experience.
* Working knowledge of the Linux operating system.
* Able to create, understand, and follow processes to ensure successful execution of critical maintenance.
Preferred Qualifications:
* Experience working with Epic Systems.
* RDBMS Certification preferably Microsoft SQL Server.
* Strong Linux administration skills, including experience with command line tools, scripting, and troubleshooting.
* Knowledge of a command shell (BASH), plus languages and utilities such as awk, sed, or Perl.
