Arup's purpose, shared values, and collaborative approach have set us apart for over 75 years, guiding how we shape a better world.
Learning ensures that Arup is best placed to meet the increasingly complex needs of our clients and enable our membership to deliver excellence in everything we do.
The Opportunity
We are looking for a Learn Rep to join our People team in Ireland. This role can be based in either our Dublin or Cork office. This is a permanent, full-time position where you will have the opportunity to work in a hybrid capacity. Office attendance will be expected at least 3 days per week.
Reporting directly to the People Leader, the Learn Rep will have full ownership and accountability for supporting the technical & professional learning and development of approximately 800 people across the Ireland Geography.
As a Learn Rep at Arup, You Will:
Be responsible for facilitating and promoting a strong learning culture across the Ireland Geography.
To effectively perform their role, the Learn Rep should:
· In coordination with Group Leadership, define and monitor the implementation of the annual learning plan of the Group, which should reflect the learning needs derived from:
o Strategic local initiatives associated to business needs (e.g. growth plans in a specific business requiring new skills and/or knowledge, transitioning skills, consolidation of existing skills or future skills required),
o Learning needs identified and agreed within staff members' appraisals.
· This learn plan should be defined annually in parallel to the annual budgeting exercise with the Ireland Commercial Director. It should allow some flexibility for emerging needs that may rise throughout the year. The local plan may be designed in alignment with the global and regional learn plan and should include learning solutions of different categories:
o Nature of content: technical training/soft skills training etc;
o Format and methodology: formal/informal; online/virtual/face to face; blended; internal and external;
o Scope: global, regional and local;
o Priority type: mandatory, required and recommended.
· Be the main point of contact for staff members to guide them in their learning needs. This may imply direct guidance towards specific learning opportunities (courses, mentoring, regional or global programmes, online courses, LinkedIn Learning courses) or connecting staff to the relevant person for further guidance.
· Coordinate the local administration of the Learning Systems (Moodle) and other tools, including the creation of courses, classes, learn events, registration of attendance, CPD training hours or extraction of reports, among others.
· Promote, guide, and coordinate the enrolment or nomination of global and regional learning offerings in their Group.
· Ensure the smooth implementation of the learning cycle of the learning programmes they are responsible for: from diagnosis and learn needs analysis, to design, delivery and evaluation of the learning solutions.
· Actively contribute to regional Learn Community. Attend the regular Learn Community meetings to connect to the peer Learn Reps and the regional Learn team. Use the space to share initiatives and lessons-learnt, work on common learn initiatives and formats and align processes across groups.
· Liaise with professional organisations such as Engineers Ireland to maintain our CPD accreditation.
· Report regularly to the group management team.
· Support the Ireland Commercial Director to input on the annual Learning Budget for the group where needed.
Connections:
At a local level, the Learn Rep needs to engage with the following entities as appropriate:
· People Function: this is one of the necessary relationships that Learn Rep will be responsible to nurture, ensuring coordination and alignment of any initiative related to learning and development of staff members in Ireland that should make part of the unique annual learn plan of the Group.
· Group Leadership: in coordination with the AU Group Rep, the Learn Rep should be connected with the management team of the Group (e.g. Group Leader, Service and Business Leaders, Skills Network Leaders, Business Services Leaders).
· Arup University and the Arup Leadership Academy.
· Facilities, Administration and DT local teams: these are key stakeholders when it comes to delivering face-to-face trainings. The Learn Rep should coordinate the effective delegation of responsibilities and tasks related to training deliveries.
