Waterville, County Kerry, IrelandCommis Chef(Positions available from April – October annually)The Commis Chef position ("CC") at Hogs Head Golf Club is an excellent opportunity for an enthusiastic and motivated individual to begin or continue their professional culinary journey at one of the world's most prestigious private resort golf clubs. As part of the Food & Beverage Department, the successful candidate will support the senior kitchen team in the daily preparation and service of food across the club's outlets. This role is essential in maintaining high standards of food quality, cleanliness, and efficiency while developing strong foundational culinary skills. The "CC" will report directly to the Executive Head Chef, Director of Food & Beverage and General Manager of Hogs Head Golf Club. The "CC" should possess the service gene and DNA with a sincere and genuine desire to provide the ultimate experience for all HHGC Members and Guests.Facility InformationHogs Head Golf Club was "Built by Friends, for Friends, for Fun."Hogs Head Golf Club has breath-taking vistas including the Finglas River flowing through the course, majestic cliff holes overlooking Ballinskelligs Bay and the seaside charm of Waterville village. Hogs Head Golf Club is an experience unlike any other. Designed by legendary golf architect Robert Trent Jones Jr, Hogs Head is a private member's club situated just a mile from Waterville Golf Links on the Ring of Kerry. Named after a marine bearing point on the Ballinskelligs Bay, and completed in 2017, this spectacular layout was voted as the "Best New International Course" by Built on a majestic peninsula outside Waterville Village with stunning sea, mountain, river, and lake views, Hogs Head plays high above the ocean atop dramatic cliffs. It has many classic design features including a nod to Tillinghast's theory on a gentle opening hole, and a Biarritz green (but interestingly found on a par 5). But the most notable inclusion is the 13th - a clifftop par 3, with not one but two infinity greens. Owned and operated by Alvarez & Marsal, Inc., HHGC is not only one of the top club experiences in Ireland, but with a focus on providing an elite, championship golf experience coupled with superior lodging accommodations and service, it is becoming one of the most sought-after clubs in the world. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Performs other duties as assigned by management.· Assist in the preparation of dishes across various kitchen sections, following direction from senior chefs to support smooth daily kitchen operations.· Accurately follow recipes, prep lists, and verbal instructions to ensure consistency, quality, and presentation standards are met.· Prepare ingredients such as vegetables, meats, sauces, and garnishes in accordance with kitchen specifications and procedures.· Support the Chef de Partie and senior chefs during service, contributing to efficient workflow and timely service delivery.· Ensure mise en place is completed on time and prepared to the required quality and operational standards.· Assist with plating, presentation, and service during busy periods while maintaining attention to detail under pressure.· Learn and develop classical and modern cooking techniques under supervision, applying training to daily kitchen tasks.· Build a solid understanding of kitchen organisation, timing, and service workflow to support effective operations.· Accept feedback in a positive and professional manner and apply learning and improvements on a daily basis.· Maintain consistently high standards of cleanliness and organisation within all kitchen and work areas.· Follow all HACCP guidelines, food safety regulations, and hygiene procedures at all times.· Ensure correct storage, labelling, date rotation, and handling of ingredients to maintain food safety standards.· Work effectively as part of a professional kitchen team, supporting colleagues and contributing to team objectives.· Communicate clearly, respectfully, and professionally with chefs and kitchen colleagues to ensure smooth operations.· Support and promote a positive, respectful, and disciplined kitchen culture in line with company values.· Adhere strictly to all health and safety regulations to maintain a safe working environment.· Use kitchen equipment, tools, and machinery safely, correctly, and in accordance with training.· Report any maintenance issues, equipment faults, or health and safety concerns promptly to senior team members.QUALIFICATIONS:To perform this role successfully, the individual should demonstrate enthusiasm, reliability, and a willingness to learn.
