Job Title: Project Manager (Environmental)
The Role:
As part of the team, your primary responsibilities will include:
* Supporting Senior Project Managers and Project Directors in delivering design, planning, and environmental assessment requirements for renewable energy projects, up to the consenting decision stage. This includes coordinating key documentation such as EIA and AA Screenings, Planning & Environmental Reports, Environmental Impact Assessment Reports (EIAR), and Natura Impact Statements (NIS), as needed.
* Managing baseline environmental and constraints assessments, and facilitating effective collaboration among project team members.
* Assisting the planning team in tracking and interpreting updates to planning and environmental legislation, policy decisions, and local, regional, and national development plans. Supporting the development of company submissions when required.
* Working with the Communications and Engagement team to develop and implement consultation strategies with local communities and stakeholders, including both statutory and non-statutory bodies. Assisting with preparations for and participation in community engagement events.
* Ensuring compliance with Bord na Móna’s Health & Safety and Environmental policies, as well as all relevant national and EU legislation. Employees are expected to fully cooperate with all measures aimed at safeguarding the health, safety, and wellbeing of colleagues and the public.
* Actively contributing to the Performance Management process to support the achievement of individual and team goals.
The Person:
The ideal candidate will have the following qualifications, experience, and attributes:
* Honours Degree (Level 8 NFQ) in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, or a related discipline.
* A postgraduate qualification (Level 9 NFQ) in a relevant area such as Environmental Science, Engineering, or Planning Law is desirable but not essential.
* At least 3 years’ experience in supporting or preparing planning applications and environmental assessments.
* Strong knowledge and experience in managing environmental assessments within the planning process.
* Demonstrated ability to work effectively within and lead multidisciplinary project teams.
* In-depth understanding of the Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) process, and familiarity with Irish planning legislation and policy.
* Experience in renewable energy project development, particularly Strategic Infrastructure Development (SID) projects.
* Proven track record of managing diverse projects with varying risks, priorities, and timelines.
* Experience coordinating and preparing Environmental Impact Assessment Reports (EIAR) and Appropriate Assessment (AA) or Natura Impact Statement (NIS) reports.
* Technical expertise in an EIA-related field (e.g., ecology, air quality, noise).
