About the Role
Aviva Life & Pensions Ireland is seeking an ambitious and talented Senior PMO Manager to join the Transformation team in Dublin. You are a commercially minded PMO or Transformation professional with a strong understanding of financial management within change environments.
This is a high-impact role within the Project Management Office (PMO), supporting a portfolio of strategic, regulatory, and risk-driven transformation programmes. The successful candidate will work closely with the Head of Transformation, providing oversight and support to ensure successful delivery across the change portfolio.
While the role spans the full breadth of PMO and transformation activity, there is a strong emphasis on financial governance, cost management, and benefits realisation, acting as a key partner to both programme teams and Finance.
Key Responsibilities
Act as a finance business partner to Transformation programmes and the Finance function
Oversee portfolio cost management, including budgeting, forecasting, and monthly financial reporting
Own Transformation cost centres, ensuring accuracy of actuals vs plan and forecast
Produce and maintain rolling forecasts of change spend, proactively identifying risks of under/over spend
Manage central allocations and accruals, including payroll and contractor costs
Support submission of financials to governance forums (e.g. SteerCo, Transformation Committee, Group)
Business Case & Benefits Realisation
Support the development and validation of business cases, ensuring robust cost and benefit assumptions
Oversee and track benefits realisation (financial and non-financial) across the portfolio
Ensure benefits are clearly defined, measurable, and delivered in line with expectations
Provide constructive challenge where benefits or assumptions are at risk
Provide oversight across programmes covering:
Risks & issues
Business readiness
Resource demand and capacity
Ensure adherence to the Aviva Change Framework and governance standards
Attend programme working groups and SteerCo forums as required
Management Information (MI) & Reporting
Produce high-quality portfolio-level MI reporting covering costs, benefits, risks, and resources
Deliver insights and analysis for:
Group Transformation Office
Identify trends, risks, and opportunities to support data-driven decision-making
Stakeholder Management & Collaboration
Build strong relationships with:
Finance teams
Senior Transformation leadership
Group / UK Transformation stakeholders
Collaborate with other Senior PMO Managers to drive consistency across portfolio management
Leadership & Capability Development
Provide guidance, training, and support to programme teams across PMO disciplines
Champion best practice and continuous improvement within the PMO function
Manage and develop up to 3 team members
Maintain a strong focus on risk management and controls, supporting mitigation of delivery risks
Ensure robust documentation, governance, and monitoring of key performance indicators and risks
Key Requirements
Proven experience in a PMO, Transformation, or Portfolio Management role
Strong financial acumen, including budgeting, forecasting, and cost control
Experience supporting or overseeing business cases and benefits realisation
Ability to operate at portfolio level across multiple programmes
Strong stakeholder management skills, with confidence to challenge and influence senior leaders
Experience producing executive-level reporting and insights
Experience in Financial Services / Insurance
Exposure to regulatory or risk-driven programmes
Experience working with Group or multi-region transformation teams
