About Farrelly Mitchell
Farrelly Mitchell helps the world’s most ambitious food and agribusiness companies make the right decisions. With expert insight and local market intelligence, we build and implement sustainable strategies that help clients restructure, transform, and grow. From offices across Europe, the Middle East, and Africa, we serve corporates, sovereign wealth funds, private equity and institutional investors, development finance institutions, governments, and multilateral agencies, delivering over $20 billion in due diligence and transaction advisory mandates alongside a deep portfolio of food systems and development engagements.
Our Consulting Team
Our Consulting Team supports clients across the firm’s three service pillars: commercial and technical advisory; food systems advisory; and development and impact advisory. The team handles the firm’s most complex and commercially significant engagements across our regional markets, supported by an experienced network of subject matter experts.
Purpose of the role
In response to growing demand for our services, we are seeking an exceptional Consultant to join the Consulting Team. The successful candidate will bring proven experience from a Big 4 or top-tier consulting firm, paired with a strong understanding of the food and agribusiness sectors.
Reporting to the Head of Europe, the Consultant will own the end-to-end delivery of high-quality client engagements, including commercial and technical due diligence, build trusted relationships with senior client stakeholders, and mentor junior consultants. Based at our global headquarters in Balbriggan, Co. Dublin, the role involves frequent international travel across Europe, the Middle East, and Africa.
Key responsibilities
Client engagement & delivery

Lead the end-to-end delivery of client engagements, ensuring high-quality outputs on scope, on budget, and on time.
Lead commercial and technical due diligence, assessing assets, operations, and markets, and translating findings into clear, decision-ready conclusions.
Manage day-to-day client relationships, becoming a trusted adviser to senior stakeholders.
Apply rigorous analytical frameworks and structured problem-solving to complex agribusiness questions across diverse geographies and sub-sectors.
Manage project teams and subject matter experts to meet or exceed client expectations.

Sector expertise & advisory

Advise clients across the firm’s full service range: commercial and technical advisory (due diligence, market intelligence, feasibility and financial modelling, risk advisory, strategy and execution, and value creation); food systems advisory (sustainability and ESG, climate and natural capital, food safety and traceability, agtech and foodtech, and policy and regulatory compliance); and development and impact engagements with governments, development finance institutions, and multilateral agencies.
Synthesise commercial, technical, and market insight into clear recommendations that inform high‑stakes client decisions.
Deliver food systems engagements, including ESG assessments, supply chain and traceability reviews, food safety and policy advisory, and food security and development programmes for sovereign, DFI, and multilateral clients.
Maintain a current view of sector developments, market trends, and regulatory shifts across the firm’s target geographies.

Business development & growth

Contribute to proposals, pitches, tenders, scope, methodology, team, and fees.
Identify follow‑on opportunities within existing client relationships and support new business development.
Contribute to thought leadership and marketing, including articles, webinars, and social media content.

Team leadership & development

Lead engagement teams and workstreams, providing direction, quality assurance, and support.
Mentor and develop junior consultants, building capability within the team.
Contribute to recruitment, onboarding, and continuous improvement of team processes.

What does success look like?
Success is measured by client outcomes, delivery quality, and your growing contribution to the firm. In your first year, a strong Consultant would:

Lead multiple client engagements end-to-end, on scope, on budget, and to a standard that earns repeat business.
Build trusted relationships with senior stakeholders across our markets in Europe, the Middle East, and Africa.
Become a go-to expert on one or more food and agribusiness sub‑sectors or service lines.
Contribute materially to winning new business, including follow‑on work and strong proposals.
Elevate the performance and confidence of junior consultants through hands‑on mentoring.
