Clinical Nurse Manager 2 (CNM2) Endoscopy (Permanent, Full time) The CNM2 Endoscopy will report to the Assistant Director of Nursing, Divisional Lead and is professionally accountable to the Director of Nursing.
Responsibilities include: Provide a high level of professional and clinical leadership in all aspects of nursing care.
Act as positive and accountable role model in providing direct patient care.
Assess, evaluate and review the requirements of individual patient needs prior to their endoscopy procedure.
Manage patient care to ensure the highest professional standards an evidence based care planning approach.
Identify objectives, evaluate and manage the implementation of best practice, policies and procedures.
Provide specialist information and education to Patients and their families with regard to improving their understanding, coping and effective management of their upcoming endoscopy procedure.
Be self-directed in his/her learning to ensure continued professional credibility.
Manage the caseload of all patients undergoing elective endoscopy (urgent, routine and surveillance) procedures within the Mercy University Hospital.
Use a patient centred approach in all aspects of practice.
Provide patients/carers with advice, support and reassurance via telephone calls Develop, contribute to and review SOPs, policies, protocols, patient information leaflets and other associated documentation.
Identify and implement health promotion strategies for patient/client groups in accordance with public health agenda including diabetes/obesity/smoking cessation.
Respect the dignity and confidentiality of patients, serving as their advocate.
Contribute to service planning and budgetary processes through use of audit data and specialist knowledge.
Review policies, procedures, guidelines and protocols in relation to the gastrointestinal service in regards a pre assessment pre endoscopy procedure to ensure they are continually updated in line with best practice evidence.
Record information on patients electronically (on i PMS), which will provide data for auditing the service.
Eligibility Criteria: Are registered in the relevant division of the Register of Nurses and Midwives maintained by the NMBI (Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland/ Bord Altranais agus Cnaimhseachais na h Eireann) or entitled to be so registered.
Have at least 5 years post registration experience of which 2 must be in the related clinical area.
Candidates must demonstrate evidence of continuous professional development.
Candidates must possess the requisite knowledge and ability including a high standard of suitability and clinical, managerial and administrative capacity to properly discharge the functions of the role.
Recent acute experience essential.
