Head of Transport & Logistics required for Mayo based company.
Head of Transport & Logistics is responsible for the strategic leadership, operational performance, and continuous improvement of the company's transport, fleet, and logistics functions. The role ensures safe, compliant, cost-effective, and efficient movement of goods and services while supporting overall business growth and customer satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities:
Strategic Leadership
1. Develop and deliver the company's transport and logistics strategy aligned with company's objectives.
2. Provide executive-level leadership across fleet operations, warehousing, distribution, supply chain logistics and accounts dept.
3. Lead long-term planning for capacity, infrastructure, technology, and sustainability initiatives.
Operational Management
4. Oversee daily transport and logistics operations to ensure service levels, efficiency, and reliability.
5. Ensure optimal route planning, fleet utilisation, and resource allocation.
6. Drive continuous improvement initiatives to reduce costs, improve delivery performance, and increase productivity.
Compliance, Safety & Risk
7. Ensure full compliance with all transport, health & safety, and regulatory requirements.
8. Champion a strong safety culture across drivers, depot staff, and management teams.
9. Manage risk, incident response, audits, and corrective actions.
Financial & Commercial Management
10. In conjunction with MD may need to negotiate and manage contracts with third-party logistics providers, suppliers, and service partners.
11. Deliver measurable cost savings and value-for-money improvements.
People Leadership
12. Lead, mentor, and develop senior managers and operational team.
13. Drive performance management and skills development.
14. Promote engagement, accountability, and a high-performance culture.
Innovation & Sustainability
15. Lead digital transformation initiatives including fleet technology, telematics, and data analytics in conjunction with senior managers.
16. Drive sustainability objectives, including emissions reduction, fuel efficiency, and alternative transport solutions.
17. Monitor industry trends and implement best practices.
Requirements:
18. Degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business, or Engineering (or equivalent experience).
19. Professional qualifications in transport or logistics would be an advantage.
20. 5+ years' experience managing transport, logistics and supply chain operations in a high-volume environment, with proven people management experience.
21. Proven track record managing fleets and logistics networks.
22. Strong commercial, financial and strategic planning capability.
23. In-depth knowledge of transport regulations, health & safety, and compliance.
24. Exceptional leadership, communication, and stakeholder-management skills.
