Social Care Worker, Listowel Respite Service (19.5 hrs per week)
We are currently recruiting for the position of Social Care Worker. This is a Specified Purpose, Part-Time role (19.5 hours per week) with Maternity Leave Cover, located in Listowel, Co Kerry.
Rosters may be subject to change due to the operational requirements of the service.
As a Social Care Worker, you will support adults with Intellectual Disabilities in a person-centred, rights-based environment. You will work as part of a team to deliver high-quality care, safeguard the wellbeing of those we support, and advocate for their rights while promoting community inclusion.
Key Responsibilities
* Person centred support and advocacy: Facilitate a person-centred approach aligned with each individual’s goals, abilities, and aspirations; support individuals in making informed choices and participating in their community, hobbies, and relationships; advocate for rights, dignity, and privacy; promote inclusion and independence.
* Health, well-being and personal care: Support physical, emotional, and social well-being; assist with personal care, mobility and health-related needs; help individuals develop daily living skills and encourage independence; promote physical activity and social/ recreational engagement.
* Teamwork and communication: Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team and external agencies; maintain open, professional communication with individuals, families, and colleagues; participate in team meetings and care plan reviews; document daily records, progress notes, and risk assessments in line with policies.
* Compliance and continuous development: Ensure adherence to HIQA standards, Disability Act 2005, GDPR, and Health & Safety regulations; follow Association policies and participate in ongoing training and service development; contribute to service improvements.
Essential Criteria
* Eligible applicants must hold (on the closing date) a professional registration, or be eligible for registration, on the Social Care Workers Register maintained by CORU.
* OR have a Schedule 3 qualification (as recognised by CORU) with any transitional provisions applicable; evidence may be required for registration or proof of application.
* Ability to work in Ireland and provide supporting documentation during recruitment; possession of a full driving licence and willingness to drive Association vehicles as required.
* Relevant knowledge and ability for the proper discharge of the role; understanding of rights-based, person-centred approaches.
* Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams); strong time management and communication skills; ability to document accurately and maintain GDPR-compliant records.
Highly Desirable Criteria
* Experience in a care delivery role, preferably within a disability service.
* Experience liaising with statutory and voluntary agencies.
