We are seeking a motivated and compassionate Occupational Therapist to join the Department of Psychiatry in Drogheda, delivering care within an acute mental health service. This role offers an excellent opportunity to work as part of a multidisciplinary mental health team supporting adults experiencing acute mental health difficulties. Key Responsibilities of the Occupational Theraist: Provide occupational therapy assessment and intervention to adults admitted to acute mental health services. Support service users in areas such as occupational performance, daily living skills, routine development, and recovery-focused goal setting. Deliver individual and group-based therapeutic interventions aligned with recovery-oriented practice. Work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team including psychiatry, nursing, psychology, social work, and other allied health professionals. Contribute to care planning, risk assessment, and discharge planning in collaboration with the wider team. Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation in line with hospital, HSE, and CORU standards. Participate in service development, audit, and quality improvement initiatives. Engage in supervision, reflective practice, and ongoing professional development. Requirements for the Occupational Therapist: Recognised qualification in Occupational Therapy. CORU registration (mandatory). Experience working in mental health services, ideally within acute or inpatient settings. Strong clinical reasoning, risk awareness, and communication skills. Ability to work independently while contributing positively to a multidisciplinary team. Desirable Experience Experience delivering group-based interventions within mental health services. Experience working with acute presentations, including mood disorders, psychosis, and complex mental health needs. Knowledge of recovery-oriented and trauma-informed approaches.
