Job Description

We are recruiting an Automation Technician to join our team in a permanent contract.

About the Role:

The Automation Technician will be responsible for supporting ongoing development of high-speed automated production lines and new product introductions, focusing on PLC controlled equipment, vision systems, revision control systems, and manufacturing data integrity and security.

Responsibilities:

* Manage and support existing automation infrastructure for optimal performance and minimised downtime.
* Collaborate with IT Group, Application Group, and External Technical Resources to provide comprehensive support of all Automation and Information Systems and Technologies.
* Implement industry best practices to deliver improved productivity, quality, and efficiency throughout the organization.
* Install and deploy systems, software, and peripherals as required, liaising with external vendors and service contractors as appropriate.
* Provide technical direction for all new infrastructure developments, in agreement with the Engineering Manager. Benchmark system performance and provide regular reports.
* Interface with Corporate Information Systems on standards, support, and new infrastructure developments. Perform system backups and recovery.
* Ensure system connectivity of all servers, shared software, and other applications.
* Provide regular reports to Management and deliver projects within agreed timeframes and budgets. Document all aspects of system support including all procedures to ISO standards.
* Develop innovative inputs to new production lines in the areas of control, data collection, motive power, robotics, vision systems, and communications.
* Configure, install, and maintain computer networks, including LANs, WANs, and intranets.


Required Skills and Qualifications

The ideal candidate will have a degree in Mechatronics or a related Automation/Engineering discipline. The following skills and qualifications are essential:

* Ability to troubleshoot Automated equipment.
* Ability to use Allen-Bradley PLC to troubleshoot.
* Knowledge of Allen Bradley Studio 5000, Cognex Vision Systems, Robotics.
