Job DescriptionThe OpportunityJoin a forward-thinking company specialising in commercial solar PV fitouts as a Solar Project Development Engineer. In this role, you'll assess the technical feasibility of solar photovoltaic installations, lead design and engineering efforts, and oversee the safe and efficient delivery of solar energy projects. This is a hands-on engineering opportunity combining fieldwork, system design, quality control, and stakeholder coordination.Key Responsibilities Site Evaluation & FeasibilityConduct on-site assessments to evaluate proposed locations for PV installationsAnalyse energy audits and regulatory requirements to determine project viabilityPerform site risk assessments and recommend mitigation measures System Design & EngineeringDesign solar PV systems using engineering software, generating accurate layouts and configurationsSelect system components tailored to site conditions and project goalsInterpret simulation results to estimate system performance and energy generation Project Planning & OversightDevelop and manage project schedules, documentation, and technical deliverablesMonitor active projects, proposing changes to stay within budget, scope, and timelineLiaise with internal teams, subcontractors, and regulatory authorities throughout project lifecycleOversee site activities, including scaffolding, installation, and compliance checks Quality & Safety AssuranceConduct quality inspections during installation to ensure adherence to design specsReview test results for PV and grounding systemsSupport SOP development for quality assurance and health & safetyPerform site safety audits and ensure compliance with H&S regulationsQualifications & Experience Education & BackgroundBachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Renewable Energy Engineering, or related discipline (or equivalent experience)3–5 years' experience in the solar PV industry, ideally with projects exceeding 200 kWExperience in distributed generation, commercial, or utility-scale PV design and constructionNABCEP certification is a plus Technical SkillsProficient in AutoCAD and Microsoft OfficeSkilled in solar simulation tools such as PVSyst, PVSol Premium, Helioscope, Pylon, or PVcaseStrong understanding of technical specs, construction documents, and project governance Soft Skills & Other RequirementsExcellent verbal and written communication skillsHighly organised with strong attention to detailSelf-motivated and able to work both independently and as part of a teamFull driving licence preferredWillingness to occasionally work outdoors on project sitesInterested?For more information or to apply confidentially, please contact Thomas at Brightpath Recruitment.INDTW
