Occupational Therapist Role
The Housing First initiative is a client-centred, evidence-based approach that supports individuals with complex health and social care needs to achieve permanent housing.
This role will have a pivotal impact within the Housing First Multidisciplinary Team (MDT). The team collaborates with various organisations to establish a Housing First MDT and deliver an integrated model. The Occupational Therapist will provide specialist input within this MDT, contributing to high-quality, clinically informed practice.
Key Responsibilities:
* Apply clinical knowledge and evidence-based practice to address the health, housing, and social needs of Housing First participants, ensuring all interventions reflect Housing First principles such as harm reduction, trauma-informed care, and unconditional support.
* Manage a defined caseload, providing direct occupational therapy assessment and intervention to support participants' wellbeing, independence, and tenancy sustainment.
* Deliver tailored interventions and skills-based programmes that enable participants to build daily living skills, manage housing responsibilities, and engage with their communities.

* Knowledge of policy, legislative, clinical, and professional standards relevant to occupational therapy and multidisciplinary practice.
* Actively contribute to continuous improvement initiatives, driving change and enhancing service delivery for Housing First participants.
* Deliver services in line with Housing First fidelity, prioritising participant choice, dignity, and respect.
Communications and Interpersonal Skills:
* Effective communication with MDT colleagues, ICMs, housing providers, and external agencies.
* Adapt communication style to suit the needs of the audience, demonstrating active listening and empathy in all interactions.
