Senior/Principal Ecologist
We are seeking a driven and passionate ecologist to join our Environment and Health division as Principal Ecologist.
Your New Role
You will be part of our Biodiversity and Ecosystems Global Service Line, working on projects such as transport infrastructure, commercial and residential development, and renewable energy projects.
Key Responsibilities
* Manage small to medium scale projects with input on large scale projects such as transport infrastructure projects.
* Be the main point of contact with Ramboll project managers, clients, partner organisations, and sub-consultants.
* Plan and undertake ecological surveys or clerk of work programmes, producing high-quality reports including habitat and species surveys.
* Undertake ecological mitigation design and delivery.
* Liaise with ecological regulators and planning authorities.
* Deliver technical work on complex projects.
* Prepare fee proposals and assist with client relationship management.
* Supervise and manage more junior ecologists and contribute to resource planning.
Additional Responsibilities at Principal Grade
* Effectively plan, manage, and mentor an ecology team within a multi-disciplinary consultancy environment.
* Review reports including EIA chapters, HRA, precautionary methods of work, and species licence applications.
* Deliver complex projects on time and manage them to budget.
* Contribute to business development and client relationship management.
About You
We are looking for a candidate who:
* Is proficient in MS Word, MS Excel, MS Outlook, and ArcGIS.
* Familiar with digital data capture techniques in ecology fieldwork.
* Has experience in fieldwork and application of survey techniques in accordance with best practice guidance.
* Can communicate effectively in written and spoken English to a range of audiences.
* Is capable of producing clear and concise written documents for various purposes.
* Holds one or more protected species survey licences (ideally bats) and has experience of holding or implementing development licences.
* Has good knowledge of relevant environmental/ecology legislation.
* Understands the planning systems in Ireland and Northern Ireland in relation to development and the integration of ecology.
* Has a full clean driving licence and is willing to undertake surveys at unsociable hours.
