Job Description for Part-time School Support WorkerforMonaghan School Liaison ProgrammeJob Title: Part-time School Support Worker for Monaghan School Liaison ProgrammeLocation: Based in Monaghan Education Support Centre with responsibility for liaising with a number of schools in County Monaghan.Reporting to: The director of Monaghan Education Centre and Steering Committee with oversight for Monaghan Schools Liaison Programme.Contract Duration: 1 September 2025 to 30 May 2026Job Function: **Providing support to young people in primary and post-primary schools participating in the Monaghan School Liaison Programme for 15 hours weekly during the 25/26 school year excluding school holidays at Halloween, Christmas and Easter.Hours: This post will involve mainly, but not exclusively, school hours.Remuneration: Gross salary for 15 hour week worked is €293.98 for contract durationTravel expenses will be paid at Department rates in accordance with policy for travel between schools and centre/ home base.Holidays: The part-time School Support Worker will not be scheduled for work during school holidays. Paid annual leave will be provided for a pro-rata proportion of the 21 days statutory leave entitlement for fulltime workers.The role of the part-time school support worker is to:Liaise with school management and teachers in schools participating in the project to provide support to students identified as being at risk of early school leaving or disengaging from school activitiesLiaise with students to identify their needs and how best they might be supported in school.Initiate and implement programmes based on the needs of students, parents/guardians and families, eg. school induction programmes, anti-bullying programmes, resilience building programmes, study skills programmes.Establish and maintain a working partnership with School Support Worker with Monaghan Schools Liaison Programme and Director of Monaghan Education Centre, relevant staff in schools, students and their parents, full-time.Network with Tusla and other professionals and agencies involved in supporting young people and their families.The successful applicant will require:Excellent interpersonal and communication skillsA working knowledge of primary and post-primary schoolsAn understanding of young people and the contemporary issues which impact on their livesExperience of working with young peopleAbility to work on own initiative and liaise with relevant school personnel and outside agenciesGood organisational and record keeping skillsDriving licenceLeaving Certificate or equivalent qualification with post-leaving certificate qualification in a relevant discipline such as social work, social care, youth work, teaching, nursing, counselling.This part-time position is funded by the County Monaghan Fund.Job Type: Part-timePay: From €293.98 per weekEducation:Leaving Certificate (preferred)Work Location: Hybrid remote in Knockaconny, Armagh Road, CO.
