Title: Mechanical Shift Technician

Shift Role
The Mechanical Shift Technician is responsible for monitoring, operating and first line maintenance of the Utilities equipment in a cGMP environment, in the relevant area and in accordance with site Standard Operating Procedures and Engineering Work Instructions. The shift technician is responsible for the execution of day-to-day shift tasks as per the shift Lead requirements.
Day to day responsibilities
* Monitor relevant control systems for GMP and Non GMP alarms.
* Escalate alarms according to escalation procedures and SOPs.
* Investigate alarms as per relevant procedures.
* Operate utilities equipment in accordance with standard operating procedures.
* Operate utilities equipment to maintain high plant uptime in support of Contract KPIs.
* Carry out preventative and corrective maintenance per site maintenance procedures.
* Carry out technical investigations.
* Perform field rounds and readings of utilities equipment.
* Support high standards of housekeeping and safety.
* Review permit to work before signing off.
* Act as lockout coordinator for Control of Hazardous Energy.
* Work with vendors and third-party contractors as required.
* Collaborate with maintenance and calibration teams on scheduled calibrations, corrective and preventive work to meet contact deliverables.
* Ensure timely completion of operations and maintenance activities on specific utilities equipment.
* Review Utilities Standard Operating Procedures and work instructions as required.
* Manage own training curricula and review training performance (ITP) with shift lead.
* Coordinate with engineering and commissioning teams on all Utilities Equipment.
* Operate as the starting point for internal escalation processes (CUB Coordinator).
* Raise reports as required, including safety, TIR and MIR.
* Improve equipment and process knowledge through the use of FDS, SOO and Equipment Data Books, etc.
Required skills
* Apprenticeship or 3rd level qualification with mechanical experience.
* Minimum of 3 years' experience in mechanical utilities or process maintenance.
* Knowledge of Utilities Systems (as listed in role description).
* Experience in Pharmaceutical, Brewery, Dairy or Food industries.
* Experience in a regulated Industry (FDA, IMB, NSAI).
* Good working knowledge of preventative maintenance for a range of plant equipment: pumps, HVAC, air compressors, steam boilers and steam systems ancillary services, domestic hot water, refrigerant chillers, cooling towers, clean steam boilers, purified water systems, sterilization systems, low voltage electrical systems, PLCs, Building Management Systems (Honeywell, Emerson DeltaV), and basic instrumentation.
* Understanding of SOPs and cGMP engineering systems.
