We are now seeking an experienced and motivated Area Manager to join our Operations team. This is a hands-on, field-based role suited to someone who enjoys working with people, solving problems, and maintaining high operational standards across multiple client locations.
This role is available ideally immediately.
About the Role
The Area Manager is responsible for the operational and administrative oversight of multiple client sites, ensuring exceptional service delivery and strong communication between staff, clients, and head office.
Regular site visits, staff supervision, quality checks, client onboarding, and stock control are a key part of this role. You will also support business development by preparing quotes, identifying upselling opportunities, and maintaining strong client relationships.
A company vehicle will be provided (use of own vehicle initially may be required).
Key Responsibilities
Client Onboarding & Business Development
* Work with Operations, HR, and Accounts to onboard new clients efficiently.
* Prepare stock orders, spreadsheets, and documentation for new site setups.
* Prepare and issue quotes for both new and existing clients.
* Meet potential clients to assess needs and present company services.
* Identify opportunities for service improvements or upselling (e.g., carpet, upholstery, or window cleaning).
Site Operations & Quality Assurance
* Conduct regular site visits to ensure cleaning standards and client satisfaction.
* Complete audits, follow-up actions, and resolve client issues promptly.
* Coordinate deep cleaning and specialist services, sometimes outside regular hours.
* Ensure stock and equipment levels are maintained across all sites.
Staff Leadership & Support
* Recruit, onboard, and train new employees in line with company policies.
* Monitor staff attendance and performance; conduct initial performance reviews or disciplinary actions when needed.
* Foster a positive, supportive team culture and represent company values.
* Act as the link between staff on the ground and head office.
Operational Logistics
* Oversee ordering and maintenance of uniforms, ID badges, lanyards, and cleaning materials.
* Deliver and collect stock or documents using the company vehicle.
* Ensure all monthly stock records and paperwork are accurate and sent to Accounts on time.
Administrative Duties
* Maintain accurate records of client communication, audits, deliveries, and quotes.
* Use internal reporting systems, WhatsApp, and email for daily communication.
* Keep Cleaning Scopes of Work and SOPs updated.
* Conduct supplier price checks and ensure all Health & Safety, SDS, and COSHH documentation is up to date.
Requirements
* 2–3 years' experience in a similar role within the contract cleaning industry.
* Strong interpersonal, organisational, and leadership skills.
* Excellent communication skills.
* Competent IT skills: Office Suite, Google Sheets, SmartSheets (advantage), and digital reporting tools.
* Full, clean driving licence.
* High attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities.
