Child Counsellor
\
We are seeking a skilled Child Counsellor to join our team in the delivery of counselling services to children. The successful candidate will work on a sessional basis in various locations across {location}, including Cavan, Laois, Leitrim, Monaghan, Tipperary, Mayo and Longford.
\
The role involves providing blocks of eight counselling sessions per referral, working closely with parents and carers to support the child's well-being.
\
Key Responsibilities:
\
\
1. Develop and maintain a strong understanding of the needs of children and young people, and adapt your approach accordingly.
\
2. Provide individual and group counselling sessions, using evidence-based approaches and techniques.
\
3. Work collaboratively with colleagues and external agencies to ensure effective service delivery.
\
4. Contribute to the development and implementation of policies and procedures that promote best practice in child counselling.
\
5. Engage in ongoing professional development, staying up-to-date with research, policy and best practice in the field of child counselling.
\
6. Participate in regular supervision and peer review to ensure high-quality service delivery.
\
7. Maintain accurate records and complete reports as required.
\
8. Adhere to all relevant laws, regulations and standards related to child safeguarding and welfare.
\
9. Engage in quality assurance exercises and contribute to the evaluation process as required.
\
Requirements:
\
To be considered for this role, you will need:
\
\
10. A recognised qualification at Level 7 (primary degree) or higher in a relevant human science.
\
11. Either 2a, 2b & 2c or 2d, 2e & 2f as follows:
\
\
12. 2a: Hold a degree or post-graduate qualification in counselling, or psychotherapy recognised by at least one of the following bodies: the Psychological Society of Ireland; the Irish Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy; the Irish Association for Humanistic and Integrative Psychotherapy; the Irish Council for Psychotherapy; the Irish Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy; the Irish Association of Psychotherapy and Play Therapy; the Association of Child Art Psychotherapists.

13. 2b: Have full accredited membership with one of the above professional bodies.
\
14. 2c: Two years (minimum of hours) of relevant supervised experience providing counselling to children.
\
15. 2d: A professional accredited qualification in child and adolescent counselling.
\
16. 2e: Have full accredited membership with one of the following professional bodies: the Psychological Society of Ireland; the Irish Association of Humanistic and Integrative Psychotherapy; the Irish Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy; the Irish Association of Psychotherapy and Play Therapy; the Association of Child Art Psychotherapists; one of the ten accrediting psychotherapy bodies within the Irish Council for Psychotherapy.

17. 2f: One year of relevant supervised experience providing counselling to children.
