To be a great neighbour Continue to build trust Developing talent Role Description The Senior IT Operations Engineer will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of IT systems, infrastructure, applications, and Helpdesk, ensuring their optimal performance, security, and reliability.
This role involves managing a team of IT professionals, collaborating with various departments, managing vendors, and implementing advanced technologies to support the company's strategic goals.
Role Accountabilities Stakeholder Management: Develop and maintain effective relationships with internal stakeholders and external vendors.
Act as a trusted advisor to senior management, providing insights and recommendations on IT operations and strategy.
Champion the adoption of innovative technologies and digital capabilities to meet current and future business needs.
IT Infrastructure Management: Oversee the administration, monitoring, and maintenance of IT infrastructure, including servers, networks, and storage systems.
Implement and manage on-premises, cloud-based, and SaaS solutions to enhance scalability and flexibility.
Ensure the security and integrity of IT systems through the implementation of best practices and compliance with industry standards.
Application and Database Support: Manage the support and maintenance of business applications and integrated systems.
Perform database administration tasks, including performance tuning, backup and recovery, and security management.
Collaborate with business functions to identify and implement application enhancements and updates.
Manage the operation and development of a Helpdesk for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd line support for issues management and service requests.
Business Intelligence and Management Reporting Develop and manage key company performance reports using advanced data cleansing and visualization techniques.
Champion new technologies (Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning).
User Focus: Always consider the end-user and be adept at simplifying and describing complex situations with patience and empathy.
ICT Management & Processes: Demonstrate expertise in IT management, policies, procedures, and documentation.
IT Infrastructure & Application Implementation: Apply advanced knowledge of IT best practices to develop and implement integrated IT solutions, including backup and disaster recovery management.
Cloud Technologies: Proficient in managing and deploying advanced cloud-based solutions (e.g., Azure, AWS, containerization).
Cybersecurity: Implement and manage security measures to protect IT systems from threats and vulnerabilities.
Customer Orientation: Focus on understanding and meeting customer needs, providing value-adding advice and solutions.
Risk Management: Evaluate existing and potential IT risks, designing controls and mitigation strategies.
Qualifications and Experience A minimum of a level 8 degree (or equivalent) in IT, computing, or engineering.
Extensive experience in IT infrastructure management, cloud solutions, cybersecurity, ITIL frameworks, and ISO certification.
Strong vendor management skills and experience in negotiation, procurement, and SLA administration.
Demonstrable experience with database technologies (e.g., SQL, NoSQL, Oracle).
Experience with virtualization technologies (e.g., VMware, Hypervisor, Nutanix).
Excellent troubleshooting and problem-resolution skills.
Strong communication skills, with the ability to deliver and write technical content clearly and concisely.
Experience supporting 24/7 operations in real-time solutions.
Experience managing a Helpdesk/ServiceDesk across 1st, 2nd, and 3rd lines, including incident, issue, and service request management.
Experience in advanced cybersecurity environments (SOC, firewalls, network segmentation, Zero Trust).
Experience with Windows AD, Microsoft Entra, Microsoft 365 Tenancy Administration (including Hybrid Exchange).
Experience with data analysis and modeling (e.g., SQL Query, Power Query, Power BI).
Understanding of storage configurations, including SANs.
Advanced knowledge of cybersecurity frameworks (e.g., NIS2, DORA).
Experience with Operational Technology (OT), machine networks, and sensor monitoring.
Experience in the Logistics or Marine Transportation industries.
