Job Summary:
The ideal candidate will be well-connected and commercially focused with experience in analyzing, negotiating, and executing successful trading transactions. The person will structure, buy, and sell assets that are aligned with the business metrics of TrueAero and its investment partners. This position will report to either the SVP of Leasing or the Chief Commercial Officer (depending upon the candidate's level of experience).
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
Developing and implementing a trading and divestment strategy for TrueAero and its investment partners.
Originating, developing, and maintaining relationships with aircraft and engine leasing businesses, investors, and asset managers for on and off-lease assets.
Sourcing aircraft and engines aligned to TrueAero and its investment partners’ acquisition strategy.
Structuring, negotiating, and closing complex cross-border transactions and agreements.
Identifying aircraft and engines to sell in line with TrueAero and its investment partners’ overall portfolio strategy.
Evaluating opportunities to trade out of specific aircraft/engine or aircraft/engine types and monitoring the portfolio on an ongoing basis.
Negotiating Letters of Intent (LOI) to achieve the economic expectations set by the company and its investment partners.
Liaising with all internal and external stakeholders for the preparation of RFP documents accurately summarizing the key elements of each deal with a view to maximizing gains on sale.
Coordinating and liaising internally with Finance, Technical, Legal, and Contracts functions to close transactions.
Providing input to the Commercial Team on market development concerning growth, aircraft placement and trading opportunities, as well as asset type potential.
Staying abreast of market trends, prices, and lease rates to support TrueAero’s strategic and tactical decision-making.
The Person:
The ideal candidate will bring at least 7 years of experience in a commercial aircraft leasing company, airline, MRO, or OEM, complemented by a degree or equivalent qualification in finance, economics, or a related discipline. They will have extensive, demonstrable experience in trading aircraft and engine assets, supported by a proven track record of successful performance in this field.
Exceptional negotiation, communication, and influencing skills at the highest levels within the commercial aerospace community are essential. You must have a history of successfully negotiating and closing complex sales transactions, along with a strong network of established relationships with counterparts and potential trading partners across the industry.
Financially literate with exceptional commercial acumen, the candidate will possess a solid understanding of investment evaluation techniques, residual risk management, and collateral aircraft valuation. Knowledge of operating lease terms, asset security issues, delivery and return conditions, and aviation insurance is also critical.
Highly motivated and ambitious, the candidate will have well-developed interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively at all levels, both internally and externally. You will be extremely well-informed about the market, including its opportunities and major players such as airlines, OEMs, MROs, and lessors. Additionally, the ability to accurately forecast market shifts with confidence is key.
Strong communication skills and the capability to build excellent relationships, both internally and externally, are essential. The role also requires flexibility and a willingness to travel regularly for customer visits and industry conferences.
