Our client is a progressive, values-led engineering and project management consultancy operating across Ireland and internationally. The business is built around a commitment to responsible practice, long-term client relationships, and delivering meaningful outcomes on technically complex programmes.
With a strong presence across infrastructure, energy, and the built environment, the consultancy brings together engineering expertise and commercial acumen to support clients from early-stage planning through to project delivery. Their reputation is built on technical rigour, collaborative working, and a genuine focus on performance.
The business has grown steadily in recent years and continues to invest in expanding its project controls and digital delivery capability. As a result, they are seeking to bring experienced engineers into the team who are energised by the challenge of embedding smarter, more connected ways of working across the projects they deliver.
WORKING ENVIRONMENT & PROJECTS
If you are an engineer who finds the intersection of data, technology, and construction delivery genuinely interesting, this is an environment where that curiosity will be put to work every day. The consultancy is at an exciting point in its digital journey — building out its project controls function with people who understand both the technical language of engineering and the practical realities of complex project delivery.
You will be embedded within multidisciplinary project teams, working alongside planners, engineers, and commercial managers across live programmes. The expectation is not just to report data but to interpret it — to surface insight, identify risk early, and help project teams make better decisions with confidence.
The culture is collaborative, intellectually honest, and purposefully non-hierarchical. Engineers here are trusted to develop their own thinking, challenge established approaches, and contribute to how the business continues to grow its digital controls offering. There is real space for professional development, with access to senior leadership and exposure to a diverse and interesting project portfolio.
Projects span infrastructure delivery, energy transition, and construction — providing the variety and technical depth that keeps experienced engineers engaged and challenged over the long term.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Develop, maintain, and analyse project controls frameworks including cost, schedule, risk, and earned value management (EVM)
Build and manage integrated project dashboards and reporting tools that provide real-time visibility across project performance
Work closely with project and engineering teams to define, capture, and monitor key performance indicators throughout the project lifecycle
Identify schedule and cost variances, assess root causes, and support project teams in developing and implementing corrective action plans
Support the development and continuous improvement of digital controls processes, tools, and templates across the business
Produce clear, concise, and accurate project controls reports for internal teams and external client stakeholders
Contribute to risk identification, quantification, and management activities across assigned projects
Champion the adoption of digital tools and data‑driven approaches within the wider project team environment
WHAT YOU NEED
A background in engineering, construction, or infrastructure — you understand how projects are built and delivered, not just how they are managed
Proven experience in project controls, planning, or a closely related role within a consultancy, contractor, or client‑side environment
Strong working knowledge of scheduling tools (Primavera P6 or MS Project) and data analysis/visualisation platforms (Power BI or similar)
Experience with earned value management principles and performance measurement baseline development
Excellent analytical and problem‑solving skills — comfortable working with complex data sets and translating outputs into clear, actionable insight
Strong communication skills with the ability to present technical information clearly to both engineering and non‑engineering audiences
A genuine interest in digital delivery and enthusiasm for developing smarter, more connected approaches to project controls
WHAT YOU'LL GET IN RETURN
This role offers a highly competitive salary package commensurate with experience, alongside a benefits package that reflects the consultancy's commitment to its people. You will join a business with a genuine culture of progression, access to exciting and technically varied projects, and the opportunity to play a key role in shaping its growing digital project controls capability. For engineers looking to combine technical depth with strategic impact, this is a compelling next step.
