Our client,
a public sector body, are recruiting Energy Engineers to join their Capital and Estates department in Cork.
The principle role of the Energy Engineer is to assist and provide leadership in the company achieving the energy and carbon reduction targets set out in the latest National Climate Action Plan and Infrastructure Decarbonisation Roadmap.
This is an initial 1-year contract rolewhich offers great scope for extension and future permanency.

Responsibilities
Energy Management:
5. Implement behavioral and awareness programs to reduce energy usage and emissions.
6. Establish and support Energy Management Teams and local Green Teams in healthcare facilities.
7. Monitor and report energy consumption.
8. Support ISO50001 energy management system implementation.
Sustainability Initiatives:
9. Develop strategies for decarbonization, water conservation, and transport efficiency.
10. Maintain a Register of Opportunities for energy and carbon reduction projects.
11. Lead energy awareness and education campaigns.
Project Oversight:
12. Identify, plan, and manage minor and major capital works focused on energy efficiency.
13. Align projects with national frameworks and collaborate with multiple stakeholders
14. Prepare budgets and ensure compliance with EU procurement and HSE financial regulations.
Stakeholder Collaboration:
15. Work with Regional Energy Bureaus, Sustainable Infrastructure Office, and Estates Office staff to integrate energy efficiency into health service operations.
16. Support the Estates Waste Officers to reduce waste and improve sustainability.
Requirements
17. QQI level 8 University Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering or Sustainable Energy Engineering (or Hold a qualification at least equivalent to the one above.)
OR
18. be a Member, Fellow or Chartered Member of the relevant Professional Association, e.g. Engineers Ireland
AND
19. have 4-5 years' satisfactory experience in a similar role.
