OverviewRegional Director / Technical Director role in AECOM’s Highways & Infrastructure team within the Transportation business line, based in Cork. The successful candidate will lead the delivery of transportation engineering schemes and be part of a growing team delivering a range of road infrastructure, public transport, rail, greenways and active travel projects in Ireland, with opportunities to collaborate with other AECOM offices in the UK and Ireland.ResponsibilitiesDeliver: Lead the full lifecycle delivery of projects to improve streets and places for local authority clients in Ireland, including feasibility, concept, preliminary and detailed design, community engagement, project delivery and construction management. Support other AECOM business lines where transportation interfaces are required.Oversee: Appoint competent discipline lead engineers for technical delivery; plan and develop engineering tasks; define scope and develop novel concepts to solve problems.Provide Expertise: Offer technical knowledge to the design team across all phases from concept to implementation on multi-disciplinary projects.Ensure Quality and Safety: Maintain quality of output, manage client relationships, and provide Health, Safety and Wellness leadership to the district team in line with AECOM policies.Collaborate: Lead a multi-disciplinary engineering team and build strong working relationships with internal teams and clients. Be flexible to work across other AECOM offices as projects demand.Key ResponsibilitiesDevelop client relationships, identify commercial opportunities, and create strategies to exploit them.After accreditation on AECOM’s project management system, act as Project Director and Project Manager, monitoring financial performance; training on the PM system will be provided.Ensure technical content and quality align with project briefs.Support and monitor team skills, keeping them up to date with best practices, techniques, and innovation.Manage career progression of direct reports and assist with recruitment.Support senior management of the Transportation team and deputise for key Ireland Directors as required.Develop client relationships through business development; be the main point of contact for meetings and liaison.Prepare detailed proposals, client briefs and fee proposals, and contribute to or lead bids.Foster strong collaboration with other internal teams across AECOM’s lines (Streets, Planning, Structures, Water, Power, Landscape).QualificationsSuccessful track record in management and delivery of complex civil engineering and/or transport engineering projects, including sustainable infrastructure and roads/traffic projects.Experience with design standards for roads and active travel in the UK and Ireland.Working knowledge of contract forms used on the island of Ireland, including NEC and Public Works Contract.Commercial acumen in managing opportunities and risks on projects.Preferred: Relevant degree and Chartered status with membership of a professional institution (or ability to achieve if relocating).Equality and accommodations: We celebrate diversity and welcome applications from all backgrounds.
