Job Title: Automation Specialist
About the Role
The Automation Specialist will play a crucial part in our engineering team, working on a 4-cycle shift system.
This individual will be responsible for ensuring maximum production efficiency, reliability, and compliance by installing, maintaining, troubleshooting, and optimising automated equipment, robotics, and control systems.
Key Responsibilities:
* Install, maintain, and troubleshoot automated manufacturing equipment, robotics, and control systems to ensure seamless production processes.
* Perform fault-finding on electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and PLC-controlled systems to identify and resolve issues promptly.
* Carry out preventative and corrective maintenance to minimise downtime and improve overall system reliability.
* Support commissioning and integration of new automation systems, including programming adjustments and configuration to meet specific requirements.
* Collaborate with cross-functional teams during new product introductions and process improvements to enhance productivity and quality.
* Partner with equipment suppliers and contractors to ensure smooth installation, testing, and validation activities.
* Document all maintenance activities in line with company procedures and regulatory requirements to maintain accurate records.
* Ensure compliance of all automation systems with safety, quality, and environmental standards (ISO 13485, ISO 14001).
* Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives to enhance equipment performance and operational efficiency.
Requirements and Qualifications
* Minimum Level 6 qualification in Electrical, Mechatronics, Automation, or a related engineering discipline.
* 2+ years' experience with automation systems in a manufacturing environment, preferably in medical devices or injection moulding.
* Strong knowledge of PLCs (Allen Bradley, Siemens, or similar), robotics, sensors, and vision systems to implement effective solutions.
* Ability to read and interpret electrical and mechanical schematics to identify potential issues.
* Proven experience in preventative maintenance and troubleshooting of complex automated equipment to prevent downtime.
* Knowledge of pneumatic and hydraulic systems to design and implement efficient solutions.
* Proficiency in Microsoft Office and experience with CMMS systems to manage workflow efficiently.
* Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to work independently and within cross-functional teams to achieve common goals.
* High attention to detail and strong commitment to safety to ensure a secure working environment.
* Flexibility to work a 4-cycle shift system to accommodate changing production demands.
