A Day in the Life

The Principal Manufacturing Engineer will join the ACM OU OPS team to ensure a seamless transition of new products from R&D to Manufacturing. This role involves collaborating with R&D to understand product designs, developing manufacturing processes with a focus on enhancing line efficiency while managing risks. The AME will implement Operational Excellence tools and be responsible for creating and maintaining BOMs, work instructions, and DMRs.

Position Overview

The Principal Manufacturing Engineer will join the ACM OU OPS team to ensure a seamless transition of new products from R&D to Manufacturing. Responsibilities include collaborating with R&D, developing manufacturing processes, enhancing line efficiency, managing risks, and implementing Operational Excellence tools. The role also involves creating and maintaining BOMs, work instructions, and DMRs.


Key Responsibilities

1. Design manufacturing processes, procedures, and production layouts for assemblies, equipment installation, processing, machining, and material handling.
2. Design the arrangement of machines within plant facilities for optimal efficiency.
3. Define sequences of operations and specify procedures for fabrication and performance optimization.
4. Adapt machine or equipment design to factory and production conditions.
5. Incorporate inspection and test requirements into production plans.
6. Inspect machinery and tools, verify efficiency, and initiate corrective actions to ensure quality.
7. Develop manufacturing processes applicable to statistical process control.
8. Guide engineering regarding design concepts and specifications to optimize equipment and techniques.
9. Ensure processes and procedures comply with regulations.


Required Skills & Experience

* Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Electromechanical, or Automation Engineering.
* Minimum of 7 years of relevant experience, or 5 years with an advanced degree.
* Experience with product development and project management.
* Knowledge of equipment, facility, and process validations.
* Experience managing BOMs and DMRs.
* Experience with equipment development and process validation (IQ/OQ/PQ).
* Strong project management skills, including stakeholder communication and resource coordination.
* Experience working with suppliers and managing project deliverables.
* Effective communication, decision-making, and conflict management skills.
* Problem-solving and root cause analysis capabilities.


Preferred Qualifications

* Medical Device experience.
* Experience with injection molding, small tooling design, and DOE.
* Strong statistical skills, Six Sigma Lean Manufacturing experience.
* Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite and project management tools.
* Experience with capital project budgets, developing statements of work, and project plans.
