The Red Hat OpenShift Installer team is looking for a Principal/Senior Software Engineer to join us in Ireland, Czech Republic, Portugal or Italy as remote or onsite in our offices.
The OpenShift Installer team is responsible for the development and maintenance of OpenShift installation tooling used to deploy OpenShift clusters, focusing on public clouds such as AWS, Azure and GCP. This includes provisioning and cleanup of the underlying cloud infrastructure resources needed for cluster deployments.
You’ll be a key member of our OpenShift team, building world‑class technologies in hybrid cloud, system engineering, and Kubernetes management. In this role you will contribute to the engineering of features related to the deployment and lifecycle management of Kubernetes and Red Hat OpenShift, and help define the architecture for our deployment infrastructure from inception through upstream development to delivery in Red Hat products.
You’ll be responsible for all aspects of quality for Red Hat OpenShift Installer, including designing test plans, extending automation frameworks, developing new automated tests and managing continuous integration for our component. You’ll help ensure our solutions meet the highest standards of enterprise quality, performance, usability, and supportability.
Responsibilities
Advance and extend deployment tooling of Red Hat OpenShift for cloud platforms, especially AWS, Azure and GCP
Develop and maintain multiple components of Red Hat OpenShift
Implement and maintain test plans and Prow‑based CI testing for OpenShift deployment components to support excellent quality, stability, supportability and consistency
Investigate, communicate, and troubleshoot high‑priority bugs and escalated issues, proposing systemic solutions to prevent recurrence
Keep learning cloud platforms to stay up to date with new and obsoleted features
Contribute to team‑wide adoption of AI tooling to improve overall performance
Get involved in open‑source community projects
Qualifications
5+ years of software development experience
Go and Shell programming skills are required; familiarity with other languages is a plus
Experience with and understanding of Kubernetes architecture; OpenShift is a plus
Experience with large‑scale deployment architectures, cloud infrastructure provisioning and management on at least one major cloud provider (AWS, Azure, or GCP)
Experience designing, developing and executing test plans, test automation and continuous integration frameworks like Prow or Jenkins
Experience with Linux, networking and containers
Excellent problem‑solving, analytical, and troubleshooting skills with ability to debug problems in complex loosely coupled environments
Proven ability to work collaboratively and communicate effectively in a distributed, global team environment, with solid written and verbal communication skills in English
Preferred
Good track record of contributions to relevant open‑source projects
Passion for leveraging AI tools for personal and team growth
Preference for test‑driven development
