Join our award winning Sheridans Galway Wine Bar team!Our wine bar is situated above the cheese shop on Churchyard Street, beside St. Nicholas' Church & the Galway city weekend market space.
We feature new- and old-world wines with an emphasis on natural and biodynamic.
All wines are imported and selected exclusively by us, coming from Italy, France, Spain, Portugal, Austria and Germany.
Our wines by the glass are always changing and we regularly feature wine-by-the-glass specials from our extensive wine bottle listing.We serve a simple, yet delicious menu prepared by our Winebar team featuring our many cheeses and foods found in Sheridans.
We frequently hold wine and cheese tastings and events in so there is always something fun and exciting going on.Candidates should have a love for good food and wine with a willingness to learn.
Previous experience desired but not essential as we will train for the position.Job Description: Wine Bar staffKey Responsibilities1) Customer ServiceMake educated wine variety recommendations to delight our guests.Supervise wine and food service.2) OperationsHACCP Compliance: Ensure established procedures for HACCP, cleaning routines, food safety, and workplace safety are followed.
Keep all areas extremely clean and tidy.
Update and maintain HACCP records, cleaning records, goods-in temperature control, and product batch sheets.Inventory Management: Maintain appropriate stock levels, place orders, process deliveries, handle queries from Sales and Warehouse.
Perform weekly and quarterly stock takes and fill out wastage and stock control sheets for Finance.
Ensure correct storage of wine including open bottles.Merchandising: Maintain agreed company standards and guidelines for product displays.Promotions and Events: Organise, supervise and actively participate in promotions, wine tastings, public events and supplier visits.Quality Control: Address quality issues, manage supplier feedback, and communicate with Sales and Warehouse regarding quality and food safety issues.Ad hoc Duties: Perform necessary tasks to fulfil the role and business needs effectively.3) Interpersonal SkillsAdaptability: Thrive in a fast-paced work environment with varied tasks and tight deadlines.Teamwork: Collaborate effectively with team members and other teams, contributing positively to company dynamics and shared goals.Customer Service: Provide exceptional customer service with patience, attentiveness, and a solutions-oriented approach.Communication: Possess strong verbal and written communication skills for clear interaction with customers and colleagues.Organisational Skills: Efficiently manage tasks, prioritize responsibilities, and maintain attention to detail under pressure.Composure: Exhibit professionalism and composure in high-pressure situations, addressing challenges effectively while maintaining quality service standards.Department Structure: Reporting to team leader, area manager Qualifications/Experience/SkillsAt least 1 years' experience in a similar role preferableMinimum 1 years' experience in a food and wine retail environmentGenuine interest in and excellent knowledge of wineRelevant experience in hospitality or a vineyardHACCP and WSET trained preferable but not essentialCertification as a sommelier or a degree in hospitality desirable but not essentialExcellent customer service and communication skillsOrganised and calm under pressureAvailable 5 over 7 days per week including late nights and weekends
