Role Summary
Job Title: Public Sector Role
We are seeking a skilled and experienced Professional to join our organisation in the role of Public Sector Role. This exciting opportunity will see you working closely with our team to deliver public services.
The ideal candidate will have a strong background in construction management, with experience of managing complex projects and teams. You will be responsible for overseeing the delivery of public works, including drainage maintenance and construction projects.
You will also be required to work closely with our clients to understand their needs and deliver solutions that meet their requirements. This will involve regular communication, project planning, and risk management.
Key Responsibilities
* Drainage Maintenance:
o Channel Maintenance: silt and vegetation management, aquatic vegetation cutting, bush trimming/cutting, and tree trimming/cutting.
o Embankment Maintenance: mowing, mulching, bush trimming/cutting, tree trimming/cutting, and strengthening work.
o Structure Maintenance: bridge maintenance/replacement, sluice maintenance/replacement, and bank protection works.
* Construction:
o Construction of earthen embankments.
o Construction of reinforced concrete walls.
o Installation of sheet piled retaining and defence walls.
o Installation and upgrading of precast concrete culverts.
o Installation of bank protection and other erosion protection measures.
* Safety Officer Responsibilities:
o Be familiar with relevant Health and Safety Legislation affecting types of construction work being carried out.
o Identify hazards and assess risks on site.
o Advise supervisors on most appropriate control measures and systems of work to minimise risk.
o Communicate Health and Safety requirements to managers, supervisors, and workers on site.
o Make recommendations on Health and Safety and request changes to practices on site through site supervisor.
o Take corrective action on site up to, including suspension of work where there is a serious risk of accident or injury (the Engineer in charge must be informed of the action).
