Estimator (Construction) Job Opportunity
The role of an Estimator plays a vital part in the tendering and pre-construction process. Our ideal candidate will be part of a collaborative team and contribute to the success of our projects.
Key Responsibilities:
* Analyzing drawings, specifications, and tender documents to ensure accurate cost estimates.
* Preparing detailed cost estimates covering labor, materials, plant, and subcontractor packages.
* Managing and delivering tender submissions to agreed deadlines, ensuring timely project progression.
* Assessing project risks and opportunities from a cost perspective, providing valuable insights to stakeholders.
* Sourcing, evaluating, and negotiating quotations from suppliers and subcontractors, maintaining strong relationships with key partners.
* Collaborating closely with Commercial and Project Management teams to align estimates and cost plans.
* Attending meetings with clients, consultants, and design teams as required, effectively communicating project details.
* Contributing to value engineering exercises, proposing innovative construction solutions that meet client needs.
* Preparing comprehensive project handover documentation once tenders are secured, ensuring seamless project transition.
* Providing expert cost and procurement advice to the project team during early stages, supporting informed decision-making.
Requirements:
* A degree or diploma in Quantity Surveying, Construction Economics, or a related field is essential for this role.
* At least 5 years of experience working as an Estimator in the construction industry, preferably on commercial projects.
* Advanced analytical and numerical skills, combined with exceptional attention to detail.
* Proficiency in using estimating software such as Buildsoft, Cubit, or Causeway, along with Microsoft Excel and COINS.
* Excellent communication and negotiation skills, enabling effective collaboration with various stakeholders.
* Capacity to work under pressure in a fast-paced team environment, meeting deadlines and delivering results.
