Sustainability & Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) Graduate (23-Month Fixed Term Contract) Job Purpose: The Sustainability & EHS Graduate will support the Sustainability and EHS Department in maintaining a safe working environment, ensuring regulatory compliance, and advancing the organisations sustainability, environmental, and health & safety objectives. This role provides hands-on experience across operational, environmental, and administrative functions while contributing to continuous improvement initiatives and the overall safety culture of the site. Key Responsibilities: Environmental Management Perform daily checks on the Effluent Treatment Plant. Conduct sampling under the Water Monitoring Programme (effluent, stormwater, bundwater, groundwater). Support waste management processes, improving segregation, compliance, and efficiency. Compile and maintain accurate waste stream documentation. Prepare monthly environmental performance reports for site-wide, process, and departmental waste. Maintain environmental compliance records and monitoring logs. Health & Safety Management Support Fire Safety compliance, including fire equipment inspections and evacuation readiness. Assist with the coordination and delivery of EHS Training programmes, including contractor inductions. Work with supervisors, team leaders, and managers to identify and control significant EHS risks within operations. Assist with development, review, and updating of Risk Assessments. Participate in internal EHS inspections and audits; support preparation for external regulatory inspections. Contribute to emergency response readiness activities. Sustainability & ESG Initiatives Participate in corporate and site-level sustainability programmes. Support the tracking and reporting of sustainability metrics (energy, water, waste, emissions). Contribute to sustainability communications and awareness initiatives. Assist in continuous improvement projects aligned with ESG objectives. Compliance, Documentation & Reporting Maintain plant statistics, performance-to-goals dashboards, and records required for EHS and sustainability reporting. Maintain metrics for assessing Sustainability & EHS effectiveness. Review, update, and draft Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs). Administer legal and compliance databases, ensuring up-to-date and accurate information. Ensure all required Sustainability & EHS documentation is prepared, maintained, and audit-ready. Training, Engagement & Communication Assist with delivery of EHS and sustainability communication campaigns. Support cross-functional committees, forums, and internal training efforts. Engage proactively with site teams to promote a strong EHS and sustainability culture. Continuous Improvement & Projects Support ongoing sustainability and EHS improvement projects. Contribute to initiatives designed to enhance performance, culture, and overall operational efficiency. Qualification / Experience / Skills: The successful applicant must possess the following knowledge, skills, qualifications, attributes and experiences. Bachelors (Honours) degree in Environmental Science, Occupational Health & Safety, Sustainability, or a related discipline. Candidates must be recent graduates (within the last two years) or in the final year of their degree. Relevant work experience, placement, or co-op programme. Familiarity with EHS management systems (ISO 14001, ISO 45001). Experience with data analysis or reporting tools (Excel, Power BI). Interest in sustainability and ESG-related initiatives. Strong communication skills. Ability to work independently and within a team. Strong attention to detail and organisational skills. Willingness to learn and proactively engage with site functions.
